Do you actually want to read all of these? Or just delete them from the TBR pile? Some titles look familiar so I may have downloaded them myself way back when I got my first kindle. I would go through the list and look at all the books that are number 1 of a series and then look for the rest of that series and decide if I want to buy the next 20 books or delete book one from the list.

No I want to delete them so I'll give some a go and if I don't like it I'll strike it off the list.

I can't bring myself to just get rid of them without a little look. I should maybe go through amazon and see if the blurb still interests me. There are a few books on there that I would like to read someday so I may not give them a go yet but I do want to read them at some point before I die. Hopefully, I have a good while left to do that!

I'm taking your advice Janet, book series are out. Even if there are only 2 or 3 in the series I'm unlikely to buy them so why bother reading the first one. If they are good enough to buy I'll hear of them through a recommendation!

I've cleared out from 2011 to 2014.
I keep adding about a dozen or so and I keep looking at the ones left in that collection and then go to another, so they will be binned.

Yeah, because the classics were free I downloaded pretty much all of them. I've actually read the majority so I'll need to look at the others and consider if I really want to read them or if they are there because I thought it would look and sound good if I could tell people I had read it!

Well done Jud! I don't dare list what's on my Kindle ... got enough problems with the paperbacks I'm still trying to read and pass on to the charity shop.

Yay! I dread to think how many on my kindle, did count the paperbacks recently, think its around 50

I've cleared a whole lot out just from the titles and looking at the blurbs for some others. Realistically, I could probably just throw them all out but I don't want to do that and miss a wee gem. Hopefully I'll get the list way down by the end of the year.

Finished one! Goodness but this is slow work. I think I'll spend the rest of my life trying to clear out this list.

I feel like that sometimes. Unfortunately it hasn't stopped me clicking on freebies!

Oh yes, I have no intention of reading all of these. I want to have thrown more away than I read but I keep picking ones I think I'll like so I end up reading them. I will have to try and pick ones that I think will be rubbish.

Finished number 20. She Walks in Beauty, it was a bit terrible but it was also very good. I couldn't stop reading it.

166. The Day The Sub Came I didn't realise it was a kids book and it was about a substitute teacher. It was not worth reading.

154. The Adventures of the Frog Prince, obviously a kids book and quite enjoyable.

I still haven't finished Breadwinners, I don't know if I will, I'm struggling to connect with any of the characters.

Finished 174. The Infection, a rather morbid short story.

Officially shelved 176. The Breadwinners, I want to like it but I'm just not getting on with it.

Finished 151. Rattling Bones, some of these stories are really grim. Gareth was disgusted by one of them! I enjoy a bit of the macabre though.

Started and discarded 177. Precious Bones, thought it would be my kind of story but it isn't.

Finished 159. The 19 Dragons. I quite enjoyed this one, it was short and snappy and each chapter was about a different character (there was 1 chapter per dragon) but some characters appeared in several chapters. It was kind of like interconnecting (super) short stories.

Oh look at that. it would appear that I forgot that I had deleted precious bones, oh well.

Finished 28. The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous Moll Flanders. It was quite astounding what that one woman went through in her life. Each chapter was like an episode of Eastenders. Took me a while to get through it since I read 3 other books whilst in the middle of this one, probably would have managed it quicker if it had been slightly less reflective. There was a lot of waffle padding it out but I still enjoyed it.

I only saw the TV version of that years ago - very raunchy as I recall!

I can imagine, it was all only suggested at in the book though, as is right and proper ;o)

Oh that's interesting. Thinking if it was 18th century it might have been more saucy!

One more down 1. Nicholas Nickleby

Read 95. Spalding's Scary Shorts (A collection of humorous horror tales). A bit disappointed with it, mostly because it only contains 1 story and it finished at 70 odd %

Finished 40. The Two Destinies and 163. Gwynne, Fair & Shining (Preschool edition)

I LOVED the first one. Wilkie Collins is one of my favourite authors, His writing is surprisingly modern, it's nothing like Dickens but it is so well written. I recommend it.

I didn't realise I had Gwynne, a preschool book, on my kindle. I must have bought it with the baby in mind (that baby now being Kathleen), I'll have to read it to her and see what she thinks.

My kindle books that I've bought in recent years are starting to pile up, I may have to leave the olders ones for a while to work through some of the newer ones. For the meantime I've created a new Excel list with all my unread books and I'm using random.org to generate a random number which is then the book I read. It just so happens that all the books so far have been 2011 ones.

That sounds a good idea Jud, might try that

I struggle to pick because I have so many and I tend to pick from one genre when I like many genres so random.org makes it a bit more varied for me :o) although I don't always like it when it picks a doorstop of a book, Martin Chuzzlewit is up next!

Having nothing to do at work is doing wonders for my TBR list

Finished 34. . It was very moving and made me VERY grateful that I did not go to an American school (assuming they are still like that but hopefully not!)

And another, 57.

I started Martin Chuzzlewit but couldn't face it so soon after Nicholas Nickleby so I re-did my random numbers.

Didn't finish this one , I gave up around 20%, I think I gave it a fair go but I just couldn't get on with it. All the characters were annoying, the whole thing was annoying. Good concept for a story though shame there wasn't more depth to the writing and the characters.

I think it is the 5th in a series though so maybe that is the problem. However, I don't think I'll bother starting at the first book.
