Tori | 5 comments Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling is the first book of a fantasy fiction series. It is such a good book and great beginning to a series.

This book I found to be a little boring in the beginning but as it went on I got more intrigued. I found it really interesting because it is a whole different world and a different life style. I also found it to be a little challenging because of some of the wording, like the spells.

Harry Potter is an eleven year old boy who learns he is a wizard and the son of two well known very powerful wizards. Harry was treated with fear and was neglected by his aunt and uncle, lived in the shadows of his cousin, and was told that the reason he lived with them was because his parents had died in a car accident when they were actually killed by another wizard. He is later brought to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn about his true powers and to found his two best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

My favorite character, besides Harry, would be Hermione. Hermione is one of the main characters and one of Harry's best friends. She is the child of two non wizards, although at age eleven she found out she was a witch and had also been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and housed in Gryffindor along with Harry and Ron. Hermione is a very smart and excels in almost every subjects she studies.

I recommend this book to people who like fantasy books and to those who want to feel like they are living in a whole different world.
