I need to leave some groups and cannot find a way to remove myself from those groups. any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think you have to do it through a desktop version of goodreads.

On the group home page, you'll see

You are a member. Edit Membership | Group info

click on the Edit Memebership & then Leave This Group at the top. You'll have to confirm, too.

You see this is why I hate the app. I mean, why make an app when you can't access 3/4 of the features?

Exactly, still an issue now but Amazon no longer supports the GR app sadly.
