The story opens with Aggie living with Sarah and one of the girls from the mission being her nanny to help out. Was this one of the scenarios you envisioned?

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I figured that we would get some scenes of her making the decision to keep Aggie, then breaking the news to her parents. I can't imagine her father would be happy with this scenario.

You're right I'd have liked to see her father's reaction. (Could this too have been one of the reasons he decided to make Frank investigate Tom's death?)

I would have liked to have seen her decision to take Aggie in, and all that entailed, play out.

Good point, Giulia, about Felix Decker’s possible motive for contacting Frank. He cannot be happy about Sarah taking Aggie in and worrying that she might take up with Frank in order to adopt her. Hadn’t thought about that.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments While it made sense that Sarah took Aggie in (she had been considering it in the last book), it was surprising that we didn't see it play out.

I wonder if there is a page limit for these books set by the publisher and there is only so much Thompson can include. The mystery has to take center stage and there is only so much left over for character development.

Maybe you’re on to something, Lauren. It was a curious omission.

Phrynne | 607 comments I was sure she would take Aggie in but wondered how she would care for her when she was out delivering babies. She has found a perfect solution!

It is perfect, isn’t it?
