OK so Napoleon is kept pretty busy running around fictional realms to unlikely meetings with plucky protagonists, BUT the cold year of 1816 is not so often front and center in historical novels! Absolute genius worldbuilding to bring the coldmongers into it.
It's great to see Melody come into her own as a socially conscious lady (though perhaps a bit retconned!) just as Jane is believably flawed in her treatment of her sister and her initial narrow minded views of Catholics. I wasn't very interested in Vincent's evil family or the whole treason plot though.
