Norman Crane (normancrane) | 8 comments Susanne Leist's horror novel The Dead Game was chosen as one two group reads on August 04, 2014. I hereby pronounce this the official The Dead Game discussion thread for the present and all eternity.

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments Hi Norman,
It's nice to meet you again after meeting on Twitter. I hope you enjoy reading my book. It has a lot of twists and turns in the plot so be ready for a roller-coaster ride.
Susanne

Piper Templeton (pipertempleton) I just purchased it on Kindle so that I can participate in the discussion. I'm looking forward to it, Susanne.

Cheers!
Piper

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments Hi Piper,
Thank you so much. You could ask questions and I could explain my creepy imagination.
I can't wait,
Susanne

I have my copy and will enjoy it on the balcony while I'm on vacation.
Brigitta

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments I'm so happy to hear that. Think of it like watching an episode of The Originals or Supernatural. I believe I'm more sarcastic like Supernatural.
Enjoy!
Susanne

I was just wondering if anyone else is reading The Dead Game. I've received the black invitation.
Brigitta

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments Brigitta,
If had you received such an invitation, would you have gone to the party?
Just curious,
Susanne

Lol. I'm chicken. I would have left when those steps flattened out in the beginning, no thinking, no questions.

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments I think Linda would have given up but Shana is much more aggressive and adventurous.

Piper Templeton (pipertempleton) I'm reading The Dead Game. They all got their invitations . . . very suspenseful and intriguing. Me? I would have stayed home. In fact, I would be looking for another book store to manage in another town! It's very enjoyable.

Lol. My daughter and I are sitting here talking about that now. My reading is slow since I'm entertaining children on vacation in Florida.
Brigitta

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments I can't describe how good it feels that people are reading and talking about my book.
Susanne

Planning to read more tonight. I can't wait to go to this party. Vacationing is hard :)
Brigitta

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments It sounds like it. I don't remember--it's been so long since my last vacation.
Susanne

Piper Templeton (pipertempleton) OMG! So many mysteries. The party is over -- and there are so many unanswered questions. I wish I could keep on reading, but I have to go back to work.

Norman Crane (normancrane) | 8 comments I think I read too quickly. I'll keep mum until everyone else is done, too.

:)

Thanks Norman for not spoiling. Sitting in DisneyQuest reading and surfing the internet. I got to the party last night and fell asleep when the group split up.
Brigitta

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments Thanks everyone. Don't fall into any traps or get your heads chopped off.
Susanne

I'm finished! Twists, turns and suspense to the end. Looks like a sequel is coming.
Brigitta

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments Hi Brigitta,
I'm happy you read it. Is there any part you don't like or would have done differently? I like to hear what readers think.
Susanne

I typed a response and I guess I didn't hit post. Lol. Anyway, this was my first book about vampires. The story kept moving leaving the reader never knowing what to expect or who to expect. You're right, lots of twists and turns.

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments Brigitta,
I just read your review. I love it! I guess you liked the book.
Thanks,
Susanne

Susanne,
I'm really happy you were so engaged with the conversation. You know, if I was invited to a party with a black invitation and seeing how it turned out, I don't think I would have been so eager to go to another. Suspense.
Brigitta

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments I've always wanted to get invited to a party under mysterious circumstances. I read too many Agatha Christie books. I even hosted a murder party this past New Year's Eve. But if this happened in real life, I really don't know what I would do. I hope I would be courageous.
Thanks Brigitta,
Susanne

Piper Templeton (pipertempleton) I finished "The Dead Game." Susanne, I would be interested in your explaining your creepy imagination, as you described it mentioned above! The descriptions are so vivid. I never read a vampire book before, and I think I made up for it with this loaded one. Did you base the characters (human ones;)) on people you know? I always like to probe authors on how they develop their characters. Mike's sarcasm was a hoot!

Cheers,
Piper

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments This was my first book. I thought of a party in a haunted house. I wanted murders and revolving rooms. I would close my eyes and visualize the town and people. Whatever my imagination came up with, I followed. I just had to make sure that I followed a plot and all the clues followed through to the end. The book wasn't going to be paranormal until I created the people on the hill, who hid indoors during the day. I can't say more because Norman is still reading the book.
All the characters are made up and don't even remind me of people I know. Only Linda and Mike are parts of me. Linda is shy like me. Mike is sarcastic which I'm guilty of as well.
I'm happy you liked my book, Piper.
I hope to hear from Norm soon.

T.J. Alexian | 2 comments Just downloaded your book, Susanne. Looking forward to reading it!

Susanne Leist (susanneleist) | 14 comments Hi T.J.,
Thanks for getting my book. I would have sent you an Adobe copy. But at least my e-book is only $.99. I want people to read it and enjoy it.
Tell me what you think after you read it.
Thanks,
Susanne
