E-readers, which one do you prefer?

Dilemma; my Kobo reader is getting old. Many downloads I have are on my laptop Kindle app. Rarely I read on that laptop. too big etc.
Like to be able to access both Kobo and Kindle books. The answer, my wife's I-pad, but she uses it all the time.
I pad is still quite heavy. Kindle reader is lighter but has no access to my Kobo collection. What should I do?
