Chloe Maull | 11 comments Hi, I am Chloe and I desperately could do with some help from you fabulous people.

For my A-level Eng Lit course we are allowed to choose two novels to compare as well as choose our own focus. I would like to focus on the representations of racism and so any books that could be recommended would be much appreciated.

I need two novels that both focus on racism but have some significant differences in order for me to make a good comparison as books that are very similar will prevent me from attaining decent marks.

I have read To Kill a Mockingbird and I think this may be a good book to use. So any thoughts on the other novel I could use or even a novel better than TKAM.

Please help. thank you :)

Oh, Stacie...I wonder where you got that from :-)

Roderick Vincent | 34 comments @Chloe, I would think about "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison. It isn't long (less than 200 p. I think), and it from the perspective of a young black girl (instead of a young white girl in To Kill a Mockingbird)...So a good basis here for comparison. Morrison's character sees things more first hand...I'll never forget the scene in the candy shop...

Chloe Maull | 11 comments thank you Roderick. I will definitely check it out as that looks like a good comparison. It doesn't matter what length the novel is as I love to read anyway.
Your help is much appreciated :)
