Clara Shin lives for pranks and disruption. When she takes one joke too far, her dad sentences her to a summer working on his food truck, the KoBra, alongside her uptight classmate Rose Carver. Not the carefree summer Clara had imagined. But maybe Rose isn't so bad. Maybe the boy named Hamlet (yes, Hamlet) crushing on her is pretty cute. Maybe Clara actually feels invested in her dad’s business. What if taking this summer seriously means that Clara has to leave her old self behind?

Chapters 1-4

I will admit I find Clara antics really funny.
Family Dynamics: I noticed that Clara and Rose are just like their parents for the most part. Rose parents are very upright so I feel that is part of where Rose gets her demeanor. Claras dad is very laid back so Clara is very laid back.
The Junior Prom situation: Can we sit and recognize that Clara sits and picks at Rose so maybe that is the reason Rose always feels the need to call out Clara doing wrong? She has put herself in the space of agressor against Rose always. So this idea that Clara getting in trouble is all Rose fault, no, she would have gotten in trouble just by the Carrie antics. Even further, I doubt Clara dad punishes her that much and seems to encourage her behavior.

Prediction: drama is going to happen between Clara and her friends

Hmmm I’m not sure how I feel about the characters yet. I’m excited to read a contemporary about an outgoing jokester, so hopefully this is fun. Am I the only one who thinks working in a good truck for the summer could be fun?! I hope this book isn’t too predictable. (hide spoiler)]

I'm all for the friendship bbetween Clara and Rose and I love how comfortable they are with each other now (even though they're still a bit awkward too). I like how far they've come.
I feel a bit bad for Felix and Patrick but, as Clara keeps saying, it's changed. I wish she made more of an effort or talked to them, but I'm also more invested in Rose and Hamlet.
The water park: That was so stupid of them. Plus they're suing the water park.

I think it could be fun but also very very very stressful hahahaha I guess it helps if you like your coworkers because the space is crammed and it gets very hot in there.

Chapter 5-11

I’m starting to understand the set up. We’re getting a sort of unreliable narrator and I hope she changed because I really dislike her now. I love her dad and actually like Rose, she’s insanely hard working and Clara just likes to provoke her. I do think it’s a bit unrealistic that her dad would just let them run the business by themselves just like that. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 1-5

(view spoiler)[Well. Clara is a hand full isn't she? Who decides to pull the Carrie prank at prom on themselves??? I think I love this girl. I do wonder if the pranking and class clown act is a front because her mother is out living the life of an IG model and her father is wrapped up in his business and she may act out in order to get attention. Obviously she's gonna become best friends with Rose throughout the book. Looking forward to seeing the hijinks they get up to over the summer. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 5-12

(view spoiler)[Ooh Hamlet. He seems like a nice boy. (And I sound 40 years older than I actually am haha). Soo Hamlet must be the love interest for Clara. I think it would do her good to have someone like him in her life, and yeah, just get together.

I don't think she's gonna be friends with her old friends for much longer. They just seem to only want the jokster bad girl and I think they'll just move on without her. (hide spoiler)]

I agree! I don't really love her other friends, but they are her friends and I hope she doesn't just dump them suddenly.

Chapters 13-15

(view spoiler)[I like how well Clara and Rose are getting on at the moment. I'm not quite sure when they came to an understanding but I like the friendship blossoming between them. Also, how cute is Hamlet? I actually love him.

I'm guessing that Clara won't be going to Tulum with her mother. I feel sorry for her regarding her relationship with her mother. It doesn't seem as if it's a totally great relationship and not seeing your mother in 6 months must suck. Especially at 16 years old. But her dad seems like a great guy, I just hope she doesn't feel left out now that he's getting serious with a girlfriend. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 16-26

(view spoiler)[I'm sorry but if Clara's mom really wanted her to visit, she would make the effort and actually communicate more with her daughter. I feel like she doesn't really care.

It was nice to see Clara's old friends meeting her new friends, even if it was awkward af and it ended in an accident. But at least Clara is starting to be more responsible. And then she ruins it by saying she's gonna find a way to get to Tulum anyway. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[How cute was this book. It was so nice and easy going.

I can't believe Clara actually went to see her mom, and I felt so bad for her when she realised she wasn't as great as she remembered and how much her dad has done for her over the years.

I did feel like the last couple of chapters were rushed and I would have liked to have seen more of the competition aspect.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would love to read more from this author! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 12-18

I'm really enjoying this book more. I love food trucks and enjoy the little snippets about running / working in one. I like leaning more about both Rose and Clara and their families. The whole idea of having Senators and important people over to dinner so they can pop-quiz their kids?! Rose's parents just sound like TOO MUCH. It shows that maybe no one's parents are perfect. I love how they’re becoming friends even though they’re so different.

Hamlet is too cute!! What a great love interest. I thought their first date was so fun and sweet.

I’m sad about the way Clara is ditching her old friends. I like Rose and Hamlet more, but I feel like she could have at least tried to bring them all together? It sucks to get ditched without knowing what’s going on. And I feel like inviting them to Hamlet’s “territory” maybe wasn’t the best way. But I really don’t like these “friends” much,

Oh boy I knew there was a lot of drama to come. Clara was working on being a nicer person and making friends. And it all just combusted because she was being selfish again. Ack I hope it turns out ok. (hide spoiler)]

Oh boy Clara. I'm actually kind of glad that she went to visit her mom - it seemed to open her eyes to the truth and that her mom may have a glamorous life that's fun to visit, her dad has taken care of her from day 1 and she shouldn't have abandoned him like that. I did have fun reading about the crazy things her mom gets to do for "work".

I wish the scenes with the competition were longer because I was excited to see that. I kind of knew they wouldn't win (that would be too perfect), but I like that so much good came out of it.

Overall this was a cute, fast book that I enjoyed reading. The characters definitely grew on me and I thought the foodtruck setting was really fun! (hide spoiler)]
