I am sure those who have received their copy 'The Ring of the Nibelung' were shocked to find that Penguin in their 'wisdom' attached the belly band with two stickers to the endpapers (instead of onto itself). Leaving a sticky residue after removal: and, they were doing so well with 'Crime and Punishment' and 'Don Quixote'. Below you will find two tips to deal with this issue; my preference goes out to #2.

TIPS:

1. You can either use a heat gun or a blowdryer to carefully heat up the sticker and peel it off carefully. However, you have to watch out for heat damage and discolouration. Try at your own peril. There are several helpful videos on YouTube.

2. Or, peel the sticker off without heating. Try not to rip the endpapers while doing so. You can remove the sticky residue by rubbing it with a PVC eraser (for example: Q-Connect: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Q-Connect-PV...). Go slow and blow away rubbings in between: you only want to rub off the adhesive not any of the colour.

Feel free to add your own tips!
