2-3-4 Challenge discussion

Hot, HOT, HOT! It's August in So Cal and the wild fires are burning across the state. My prayers are with friends, Keith and Paula, in Idyllwild who run a camp facility that was evacuated. My husband is currently working in Brawley, CA which is 10 miles from the Mexican Border. It's 110 degrees in the room he's working in. No fun on this job.

But, looking forward to our annual trip to Lake Mojave with three other families. We've been doing this for about 30 years and have a lot of fun. Now we have lots of grandkids to play with.

Great list Anita! I'm interested in your thoughts on Double Standards. I read it a couple of years ago and didn't like it. Of course, I was in the minority. It's a popular book.

I also read The Duke and I by Julia Quinn. I love the whole Bridgerton series.

The new Laura Griffin book looks awesome. Enjoy!

I loved Double Standards when I read it as a teen! I'm sure it wouldn't stand up to the test of time though.

I read a lot of Judith McNaught, hand-me-downs from my daughter, and really like her. I can generally overlook the dated aspects in a book and I really enjoy her writing.

I'm reading the Bridgertons Series because Jonetta found out there is a Netflix series in the works based on the books.

I talked to my friend, Paula, and the camp is a little crispy around the south edge, only some smoke damage. They hope reopen for campers next week.

I love anything Janet Evanovich writes just for the pure fun and entertainment value and the Fox and O'Hare Series is very much like the TV series "White Collar", which I absolutely loved.

Our families have had babies, weddings, grandchildren and have lost two of the moms. Lifelong friends are the very best, especially with the changes life throws your way. We always have a lot of fun.

You have some of my favourite authors on your list - Sharon Sala, Dinah McCall and Catherine Coulter.

I've only read one book by Sharon Sala/Dinah McCall and found it OK but not amazing. Can't think of the title off the top of my head but it was definitely a Sala and it had a woman (I think her name was Jade) who was abused as a child in a cult. My real problem with it was the romance didn't ring true to me because of her serious abuse issues.

Even though I have yet to read another by her I have many....I mean many of them standing in the wings. Everything from ones written back when Out of the Dark was written to eARCs from NetGalley. So I haven't given up on her. I am looking forward to your thoughts on her Dinah McCall book.

The Sharon Sala book I have for an ARC, Come Back to Me is a romance. I've only read her romantic-suspense books and really liked some, but not others.

The Dinah McCall books have better suspense plots and I really like all of them.

Anita, you’ve posted the review in the Duke & I epilogue (#1.5). Did you mean to do that?

Yep. I actually read 1.5 with the second epilogue. The book was the same, but it had the second epilogue also.
