Welcome!!
Small and independent presses qualify, as well as self-pubbed authors. If it's not one of the big five - Hachette, HarperCollins, MacMillan, Penguin/Random House, or Simon and Schuster (or their subsidiaries) - it's fair game.

Thank you very much..

Hi Meg, I think we're sticking with full-length novels for this go-round.

So glad to have you Meredith!
So glad to have you Meredith!
We welcome you to read and support whatever indie material you like!
But the challenge is only for novels... Or else it wouldn't be much of a challenge!

If it's a collection, then sure! (I was thinking you meant reading 15 flash fiction pieces and calling it a day, hah!)
We can add a genre for misc, just needs to be over 50k words.

Done. Here's a link. https://meredith-stoddard.squarespace...
Also, I didn't see a thread for historical fiction. Can that be added?

I'm advertising it all over facebook and twitters to get more readers. Good luck everyone!

Linda - Monday morning, I'll open up a new folder for each person to start adding their reviews.

Awesome! I might not add reviews directly on Monday as I'm beta reading at the moment, but I'll get started soon. ;)

I've got 44 books to read by the end of December and no worries, I'll get it done. ;)

Good luck to all!

What's this all about?
Well, as an independent author in-between book releases, I realized that I had a big megaphone that I wasn't using, and I wanted to showcase some other talented independent authors. But a lot of the tools out there were impersonal, and the noise was so loud that it was hard to be heard.
So I thought, hey, why don't I host 15 authors on my blog during the fall? Which then turned into a big ol' challenge, Goodreads group...and so on.
Here's the gist:
From 1 September through 22 December, I will be hosting one Independent/Small Press/Self-Pubbed (heretofore called "Indie") per week on my blog. Guest posts, interviews, Goodreads reviews, the whole gambit.
"That's great and all, but where do I come in?" you say, worried that you joined this group for nothing.
To join this challenge, you are welcome to find 15 authors of your own and give them the red carpet treatment...or you can simply find indie authors listed in our Books discussion folder* and pledge to read and review 15 of them during the challenge.
For indie authors, the review is key to exposure - it's no longer enough to say, "This book exists." So the more folks read and review - the more exposure for our indie friends.
*As an indie author, my first reaction is to post my book promo whenever I see stuff like this. And post away, kids - we've created folders for each of you to help folks easily find your book info. Just make sure you put your stuff in the right place so you can get the exposure.
