Indian Readers discussion

So I came across this challenge in one of my other group and quite liked it. So while they are doing it with book names, I am giving it a twist here and we will do it here with month name here.

This is August and participant have to read a book from where they can complete August.

How to play this:

~ August has 5 different letters i.e. A, U, G, S, T.
~ participants have to read a book which has a word starting with one of these letters.

e.g. Half a War by Joe Abercrombie will give you letters H, A, W, and J. you can use A from here. one word out of equation you move to next letter and so on.

I will keep a tally/scoreboard of people's score.

Point system-
1) 100-199 pages will get you 1 pt
200-299 pages will get you 2 pts and so on.
(I will consider number of pages in first edition)

2) since it's August, books release/released in August will get you 1 bonus points.

3) if the page count has 8 in it, it will get you a bonus point.

Hi Manju, I was wondering if we can read only one book for each letter or is reading multiple books allowed?

You need 5 separate books ... is my surmise .
Am reading first.. and then rearranging

For ex.
Reading Punishment She Deserves by Elizabeth George which I can fit in either S or G ... so will fit it last based on which alphabet is left ..

Same way .. Am reading
Unless by Caroline shields .. which again fits into U or S

Smi, I think she is asking whether two or more books per letter is allowed, so that score can be improved. you know, instead of a tome, multiple books to increase the score.....

You will have to finish August first. So one book for each letter. And if you achieve it soon. You can try again reading for August. 😊

LOL. No, not at all. I'm far from finishing the five books. But since I've read another book that can qualify for the letter 'S', thought I might as well ask. :P

I have finished 4 books. The Guide (G), Midnight's Children (S), Those Pricey Thakur Girls (A) and finally Tigana (T).

Not sure if I'll be able to finish another book within 3 days, especially since Tigana has left me in a trance, but I'll try.

If only I could finish Under Locke, I would have finish August spell challenge. That book is not so interesting and so DNFed. I picked another book, but couldn't finish by the end of this month.

Hopefully, I will be able to finish September spell challenge.

Sry forgot to update first post regarding bonus. Since it's September everything published/republished will get you an extra point. Books released/rereleased in ninth year of a decade will get you an extra point. 😊

Completion of challenge will earn you another 5 bonus pts.
