There are two verses in Scripture that are often confused as being the same question. They are NOT! Here are the verses: __
DIFFERENT QUESTIONS
Acts 2:37 - "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?"
Acts 16:30 - "And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" __
DIFFERENT ANSWERS
These different questions, not surprisingly, received different answers. Here are the answers:
Acts 2:38 - "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Acts 16:31 - "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." __
OBSERVATIONS FROM THESE FOUR VERSES
* Acts 2, the question came AFTER the Gospel was preached (see Acts 2:14-36) * Acts 16, the question came BEFORE the Gospel was preached (see Acts 16:22-29) * Acts 2:37, the question was "what SHALL we do" * Acts 16:30, the question was "what MUST I do TO BE SAVED" * Acts 2:38, Peter speaks of the proper RESPONSE to the Gospel (repent and be baptized) * Acts 16:31, Paul speaks of the GOSPEL and the proper RESPONSE (Jesus Christ - Faith) __
It is sheer folly to think that Peter and Paul preached DIFFERENT Gospels. __
Peter preached the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus...
Acts 2:23-24
23 Him... ye have taken, and by wicked hands have CRUCIFIED and slain:
24 Whom God HATH RAISED UP, having loosed the pains of death... __
Paul preached the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus...
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that CHRIST DIED for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that HE WAS BURIED, and that HE ROSE AGAIN the third day according to the scriptures: __
