Part 1&2:

So, we're back again in this world and reading those 115 pages felt like a chore, to be honest. I doubt I'll fall in love with this in the last book in the series....
I feel like everything happened a little bit fast with Lila and her Antari skills. She was probably aware of them before this book, but she had to practise every other magic skill, but not this one which just doesn't seem realistic to me...
Also that whole love-thing between Kell and Lila developed pretty fast, too...
I hope we'll find out who Kell was before he became part of the royal family in the last book. I'm also wondering how they're going to defeat Osaron.

Part 1 & 2:
(view spoiler)[It took me a few chapters to adjust to being thrown back into this story since I barely remember what happened at the end of the last one. I would’ve liked some kind of quick refresher on what was going on (I can’t imagine having to remember the last book after waiting a year for this one to come out), but I feel like I caught on after a while.
I remember not liking Rhy and Alucard together very much in the last book, but I think I’m sold on this pairing now. It seems like Alucard genuinely loves Rhy, and I’m really rooting for them. Poor Rhy can’t seem to catch a break though :( I’m just glad he didn’t die at the very beginning of this book; that would’ve been a downer.
I honesty wasn’t expecting Okja to be killed off that quickly. I really thought she was going to end up a surprise “big bad” at the end of this book, though I guess there’s still the possibility that she could have survived like Holland?
Also, is anyone else having a hard time keeping all these names straight? (hide spoiler)]

I thought part 1 was more interesting than part 2, but I'm still having some trouble getting into this series. Everything seems a bit too cliche and even Osaron doesn't scare or worry me.
Despite that, I am really interested in learning Kell and Lila's background. I'd like to know how Lila ended up in Grey London and what the story is behind her black eye being replaced. (hide spoiler)]

Part 3 & 4:
(view spoiler)[It was interesting hearing the Queen’s backstory and what she went through with Rhy and Kell. Part of me understands and is sympathetic, but part of me still can’t forgive her for what she put Kell through.
I had a feeling that Hastra had put something in Lila’s drink. It was just too weird for him to point out that she didn’t drink his tea, and then imply that she should drink it before they left. It seemed a bit out of character that Tieren would do that to Lila. It seems like they would need all the help they can get.
I was relieved to know that Kell was taking Lila to the bedroom to send her away instead of taking a break in the middle of a crisis to have sex. Schwab averted a major eyeball moment and I thought it was hilarious how Lila said something like, “Really? I don’t think now is the time.” I swear Lila always says what I’m thinking. I was thinking about how creepy that little girl sounded, when Lila said “Well, aren’t you creepy.” I just love Lila’s little quips :) (hide spoiler)]

Part 3&4:

This is actually getting more interesting than I expected! I like how Alucard was able to defeat the dark magic and how he seems to be immune now. That is a fine little twist that I didn't see coming and which makes everything more interesting.
I like Alucard and Rhy together, but I still think Lila and Kell is the most obvious and and boring couple ever. And I don't even think that they make such a great couple...
I feel so sorry for Alucard because of his sister :(
She seemed like such a sweet girl and I would have hoped for her to make it :/

Part 5 & 6:
(view spoiler)[So far, I like this book the best. It’s a lot more fast-paced and it follows the main plot a lot better.
I feel so bad for Alucard. He’s lost his whole family and now it seems like he’s lost Rhy (although I’m wishing they’ll live happily ever after by the end). His character really reminds me of Hook from Once Upon a Time; a bit of a morally ambiguous bad boy who ultimately has a heart of gold :) He’s definitely a much more interesting character than Kell. Now that I think about it, just about all other characters have been more interesting than Kell :/
That conversation between the Queen and Lord Sol-in-Ar seemed really strange. I wonder if they are going to go behind the king’s back to take their own measures to try to save the kingdom.
So their plan is to find this map so that they can get the Inheritor and transfer someone’s magic to Rhy? I’m having a bit of a hard time following their plans. It seems like they’ll explain a little and then a character will think “Of course!” and I’m left confused but going along with it anyway. (hide spoiler)]

I got a new Laptop on Tuesday and setting it up and everything took so much of my time. Also, getting used to the new operating system was beyond tiring!

Part 5&6:

Well, it was pretty obvious that this was going to go wrong, right? We're not even half way through the book. I'm not sure how I feel about VE Schwab killing off all those characters. We haven't seen a lot of them, so I kinda don't care about them dying... It's not like in Harry Potter when Dobby dies, you know?
I wonder how things are going to go about that box they are trying to find (I have no idea what it would be called in English and my dictionary doesn't know either)...

I don't think they want to transfer the magic to Rhy. I think that's what the king planned on doing when he originally asked Thieren about it (but it seems like that was a while back). I think they'll try to trap Osaron's magic in it....

(view spoiler)[I get what you mean about all of those characters dying :/ As soon as you mentioned Dobby, my heart ached. Whereas, I've already forgotten all of the names of the characters that died in the last few chapters.
I believe the box that they're trying to find is called the Inheritor in English. I guess because a person can inherit the magic through it?
Oh okay, that makes a lot of sense! I wonder how they are going to try to do that, seeing how the trap with Holland didn't really work :/ (hide spoiler)]

Part 7 & 8:
(view spoiler)[That was sweet to see the Queen apologize to Kell and to give him that piece of cloth with his initials. It really shows that he was (at least at one point) thought of as their son and not just protection for Rhy.
Finally we get an answer as to why Alucard left Rhy. That’s really heartbreaking. I really hope that Kell and Alucard can get along now. I’ve always thought Kell’s anger with Alucard seemed a bit much. It kinda seems to me like Kell is jealous. I know Kell and Rhy are just really close, but I’ve always had the feeling that Kell was in love with Rhy. I would buy that so much more than Kell and Lila being in love. It just seems so much more than familial love, and seeing as they're not actually related… I don’t know, it’d probably still be weird, but that’s the vibe I get.
I loved the bit about giant ship eating snakes. That was my first thought too! Haha :)
I’m really enjoying the backstories on Holland. It was quite interesting to hear about the first time him and Kell met, and how they set up communications between the worlds again. I wonder how Kell got a White London token. Maybe it was something the King had kept because he knew he would be opening communication channels again. Holland really does seem to have a tragic past. I don’t think it excuses his actions, but it does help to know what motivated him in the last couple books.
Oh no, I hope Lila is okay. I was really taken back when she got stabbed, and then Holland was the one to save her! (hide spoiler)]

Part 7&8:

I wish Rhy would have asked Alucard why he went away now... I'm sure he would have understood it...
Also, I want to know more about the fact that Alucard bought the death of his father! And I'm wondering how Osaron is going to use Berras. This whole thing is becoing promising.
I like those flashbacks we're getting all the time! (Although the one of Holland's girlfriend was such a cliché...) I like how we know his friend (I forgot his name) wasn't the last king and I'm wondering how Astrid and Athos came to reign the White London!

Part 9&10:

I'm finally on top of my reading again! And also on my updates if I manage to finish this before we leave to this family party.
And I do have to say, that I'm enjoying this more than I ever expected before picking this up. I went from looking at the page count every couple pages to calculate how much reading I still need to do for the day to flying through those two parts!
The market was so interesting and everything that had to do with it. I like how Lila has a black eye now, but I'm wondering what that favor is going to be...
I also wonder if Kell had a look at the paper he got from that sales lady (I'm so bad with names :/) before he burned it. If he didn't I'm sure his memory will come back by the end of the book. Or maybe Osaron is going to release his memories to hurt him in the final battle?
Okay, I have to leave now, we're leaving for that party :D

Part 9 & 10:
(view spoiler)[I thought that sex scene was pretty cringy. I did think it was hilarious though how Alucard came in telling them to stop rocking the ship. I do love how when things get a bit cliche, Schwab sometimes adds in some joke which makes it more bearable.
I found the scenes in the market really interesting and enjoyable. I have a feeling that Alucard’s mirror is going to come in handy somehow. I actually really love that Lila finally got a black eye, but I wonder what debt she is going to have to pay later…
I wanted to know Kell’s past so bad; I can’t believe he just threw away that paper. Wouldn’t it have been better to have some peace knowing what happened, even if it wasn’t something pleasant? Okay, I guess he has some kind of closure with knowing his real parents sold him to the market. I still hope we find out.

I completely forgot that the sales lady said that Kell's memory would come back. I was worried we were never going to find out about his past, but I bet you're right that this is will what happen. I also like your theory about Osaron using it against him!

Part 11 & 12:

I feel like Lenos deserved better. He seemed like such an innocent and sweet character. He deserved a more heroic death in my opinion.
I thought something weird was going on with Jasta! I didn’t think she was going to try to get them all killed though.
Poor Rhy. I can’t imagine losing both my parents in one night. I pretty much knew the king was going to die, but I wasn’t expecting the queen to as well. Kell will also be devastated, I’m sure. I think it was nice that the queen was able to sort of make things right with Kell before he left.
I was expecting something bad to happen with titles like “Death at Sea” and “Betrayal” but I wasn’t expecting all of this. (hide spoiler)]

Part 11&12:

Oh, I'm so torn for these two parts... Some things I loved, some things I hated. I loved the betrayal part of the story, but I think it would have been better, if there wasn't betrayal everywhere. It's like Schwab had both ideas of Jasta and Cora committing treason and she couldn't decide which one to go with, so she just put in both? Idk, I think it's an overkill. Actually, literally an overkill, because I think too many people died i those two chapters and it's not even due to Osaron. Lenos and Hastra actually made my heart ache a little bit, but I'm rather angry at Schwab for killing them, because I liked them both, but they were minor characters, so it's fine to kill them (Same with Ilo and that girl. Was that really necessary? Also, how cool would it have been if blind Ilo had turned out to be like a cool ninja-like old man who is able to defend himself?). The queen's death I actually don't care about at all, because I didn't like her, but it wasn't like I hated her. She was just a "wasted character" in my opinion.

I also completely agree about the scene between Kell and Emira. Now that you mention it, I've seen this happen in so many stories, where a character finally admits something or makes up for something and it usually means they're about to die. It seems like a lazy way to tie up loose ends and, you're right, not realistic at all. Since this trilogy is riddled with unrealistic plots and cliches, I didn't mind it in this scene :) (hide spoiler)]

Part 13 & 14:
(view spoiler)[Okay, so I was partially right when I said that Okja was going to come back for the final battle as the “big bad”. It was pretty creepy hearing her described as Osaron’s puppet (and she was already pretty creepy before!).
I feel like not much happened with Osaron. Schwab spent three books to build up this big fight with him, and we barely got any time with our protagonists fighting against him! He also wasn’t featured throughout the story much except for to say a few “scary” threats. I did like that he controlled a bunch of the townspeople though.
Well that was a twist that Holland was the one to ultimately defeat Osaron.
I’m still waiting for Kell’s past to be revealed… (hide spoiler)]

Part 13&14:
(view spoiler)[I'm not blown away to be honest... The final battle wasn't as thrilling as I would have liked. Also, why did nobody die in the final battle? Again, it's just not realistic that all those characters die throughout the book, but the final battle is won easily and nobody is really hurt... (hide spoiler)]

I feel cheated that Schwab ended the trilogy with the implication that Osaron hadn't actually been defeated. What was the whole point of the series then?
I enjoyed about 70% of this book, and really didn't care about the other 30%. I'd probably give it 3.5 stars. I enjoyed this book the most out of the trilogy but it still didn't impress me too much.
I'm disappointed because this series was so hyped up and I really enjoyed Vicious, so I really thought I would love it. (hide spoiler)]

Part 1

(view spoiler)[ RHY IS ALIVE (insert crying and hyperventilating). That was really intense. I actually thought Rhy was going to die and it would have really messed me up. I was so worried they were going to lock Kell up as soon as he got back that my heart broke when the king and queen just hugged him and held him. Kell messed up by leaving in the last book but I really just need the king and queen to remember they have two sons and for them to be a family again lol. Also, I said this while I was reading the first book and I'll say it again now, I'm really hoping Holland pulls a Loki and goes from a villain to becoming a good guy. He didn't want to be king he just wanted to see his city and people live and wanted them to be happy and he just traded one master for another and I feel bad, even though he's done bad things and isn't really a good person, he meant well?? We will see what happens! Crazy part 1! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ OMG So much is happening!!!!!! I NEED MORE RHY AND ALUCARD! I NEED MORE SCENES, I NEED MORE BACKSTORY, I JUST NEED MORE!! Rhy is finally awake and Alucard left to get his sister and if anything happens to either of them before they get reunited I am going to be SO MAD!! I also really want Alucard's sister to be okay because it would probably destroy Alucard if anything happened to her. On a side note though, in the synopses at the back of the book where it says that "Alucard is going to collect his crew and race to find an impossible cure," can he just not leave? He and Rhy haven't even spoken yet and I already don't want him to leave. I just want them to be together the whole book!! I am also really glad Rhy finally told off his mother. Poor Kell is just trying to protect and save Rhy, he's really trying his best. Second also, am I the only one who also wants more Alucard and Kell scenes???? (hide spoiler)]

Up to part 7

(view spoiler)[ I feel like so much is happening!! And I’m only 280 pages into the book!!! Either a lot more is going to happen, or things are going to slow down and feel long towards the end!! Alucard’s family didn’t make it :( and they tried to trap Osaron, and that didn’t go to plan! Now they are getting ready to head off to find some glass orb (or something like that?) to try to trap him in! I still really enjoy Rhy and Alucard’s scenes! And I really like Kell as well! I enjoy Lila okay, but not as much as the male characters, which is very unusual for me! (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

Up to part 7

(view spoiler)[ OH GOSH! Okay for starters, can we just take a moment and talk about Rhy leaving the palace not knowing that the shadows wouldn't touch him to go find Alucard and then finding him and staying with him while Alucard was trying to fight the shadows (uhgg my heart). But on that note, I was really happy that Rhy didn't just buckle at the end of part 6 when he told Alucard that Alucard had no right to want anything from him because as much as I want them back together, Alucard did break Rhy's heart and that hurt doesn't just go away because Alucard came back. HOWEVER, I do want Rhy or someone to ask why he left because I WANT THAT BACKSTORY! I was also really sad that Alucard's sister died!!!! I think Holland is turning good?!?!?!?! His backstories are so sad. Like Holland has done some terrible things but I still want to just give him a hug?? I don't know. Possibly an unpopular opinion but Lila is kind of annoying me again a little? So is Kell? Just a very tiny little bit? I also want to know the Kell and Alucard backstory because I have a feeling Kell had something to do with Alucard leaving but I don't know if Rhy knows that Kell had something to do with it? IM SPECULATING, I don't know but I feel like there is more that might be causing Kell's hate for him than just Alucard breaking Rhy's heart? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Kell and Lila finally had their moment! LOL! Ohhh la, la!! I LOVED it when Alucard came running in on them and told them to stop moving the boat!! HA! They are all off to see Maris and the black market...should get interesting!

(view spoiler)[ I really enjoyed the black market chapters with Maris and seeing how the trading was all working out. Kell burned up the information about his family?!? What??? I was hoping to read more about this!! And Lila now owes a favor for her new eye!! The binding rings seem to be what they will need to defeat Osaron. (view spoiler)[ Alucard walking in on Kell and Lila and yelling at them to stop moving the boat was EVERYTHING LOOL. I laughed so hard. But it also really made me miss Rhy and Alucard because we definitely haven't seen the best of Rhy and Alucard yet and I am patiently waiting for it. I think the power couple that they are going to become is going to be freaking amazing and I am here for it!!!!! Also, I agree with Katie, I'm happy that Kell and Lila finally got their moment!! I thought the entire scene was simple but steamy and damn Kell's got moves. It did stuff to my heart and it was just nice to see this other side of Kell. But speaking of other sides... HOLLAND, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY HEART MAN?!?! I just want to wrap him in a warm fluffy blanket and bring him tea and just hug the crap out of him! I KNOW HE HAS DONE BAD THINGS but his brother tried to kill him, the woman that he was in love with tried to kill him, the Danes tortured and bound him, GIVE THIS POOR GUY A BREAK AND SHOW HIM SOME LOVE! I am absolutely loving this other side of Holland and I have a feeling Holland is going to die at the end of this book which I am going to be really sad about because I think he deserves an attempt at some sort of peaceful life at the end of all of this.
