I read this book and I saw the movie. It did well in the movie theaters, but not as well as Hunger Games or Harry Potter. I have often wondered why. It is a great concept. I think you will enjoy it.

I read the first four or five books of the series, and I still enjoy the first three books, even though I personally think that the series went downhill with Fall of Five. I may join this, but probably not? IDK.

This has been on my to-read list for a while so maybe I'll actually read it this month! I've seen the film and LOVED it but maybe that was Alex Pettyfer and not the plot - we'll see haha

Starting this now!

Chapters 1-10. I know I watched this movie but it’s been so many years but I remember reading that critics hated it and the lead male actor actually had problems finding serious work after that for a while. I seem to remember that the critics said the actor didn’t cover character depth with his acting however as of chapter 10. He may have just been going by the book. I’m picturing this lead as mostly stoic.

Chapters 10-20. What’s this hitting the fan here! Oh I know!
May have (view spoiler)[ I wish a little more backstory about the Lorians was provided their race is incredibly interesting, and I wish there was a little bit more. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 20-30. (view spoiler)[. I love Sarah though she barely really plays a part in the plot she just seems so strong and kind and confident. Things are really getting blown all to hades right now. I’ll be honest I know it’s been a long time since I saw the movie and though they are never as good as the books I really don’t see how the movie was too far off from the book. As parts come and go I’m picturing what I remember from the movie. This author doesn’t really use a lot of descriptions to set the scene so I’m easily playing the movie through my head to line up with what the author is saying. This isn’t praise for the movie in as much as if the author had been more descriptive maybe I’d have a different scene playing in my head. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 30-34 (view spoiler)[ ok so battle wise this was really confusing. What’s with the alternate reality thing that happened. Of course I already knew the Berns was a chimera from the movie but I still got the goosies when he made the change. I’m a little concerned for 4. Six seems like a bad A in comparison. Chapter 7 (view spoiler)[ I definitely feel like John should not be letting her take all of these pictures of him. Henri is going to flip out if he finds out. I don't read a lot of books in the teen male perspective, and I'm kind of remembering why I don't. John kinda bores me. (hide spoiler)]
Chapter 15 (view spoiler)[ I love Henri! But everything he said in his challenge with Sam were lies and clearly Sam believes everything he said...and maybe everything he said is true since he knew about Lorien... (hide spoiler)]

I watched the movie, then proceeded to read the rest of the series so this is the last book I need to read in the series. Hopefully it is a fun and quick read like the rest of the series.
