message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Ikr! OK, it's ready- I'm picking it up tomorrow, then we can start. :)

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

GOT IT! :D

Hailley Dawn--✖ When you love somebody, they'll always leave too soon ✖ (Hailleydawnmona) | 85 comments YAY!! k should we start when we can and read at our own pace? we can put spoiler tags if needed-- <.spoiler.> <.spoiler.> remove periods

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Cool, I knew how to do that. :)

Kay, I'm like four pages in... I should probably get off here and read, lol.

Hailley Dawn--✖ When you love somebody, they'll always leave too soon ✖ (Hailleydawnmona) | 85 comments Oh okay. Most people get confused when I mention a spoiler tag XD
I'm about... 3 pages into it XD
Same lol

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha, that's okay. I didn't know how to do it for ages either; I eventually had to ask someone XD

But yeah. I'll get reading :D

Hailley Dawn--✖ When you love somebody, they'll always leave too soon ✖ (Hailleydawnmona) | 85 comments This is pretty good so far, I am pretty sure (view spoiler)

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I think you're right- there's that bit, 'He leaned down and touched his wife's shoulder, which passed for an embrace after so many years of marriage'.

Idk, he seems kinda cool towards her... and she doesn't seem nuts over him either. :P

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Just past fall 1979 (I've been busy with homework and keep putting off reading this XD). What about you? I love how (view spoiler)

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Oooh wow OK, they've just found out that Emily and Chris had (according to Chris) made a pact to (view spoiler). I'm guessing you're up to that? Anyway. I feel really bad for Melanie- I think that later on in the book she's going to try and get (view spoiler). She seems pretty mad... :(

Hailley Dawn--✖ When you love somebody, they'll always leave too soon ✖ (Hailleydawnmona) | 85 comments Yeah. I understand how she feels I guess but I'm still worried for Chris :/

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I've got mixed feelings about him at the moment. I'm up to the bit where it's flashing back to when he and Emily broke up for a while, and how he (view spoiler). Not cool with that. :P

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh crap I clicked on that and I wasn't up to it yet XD oh well.

OK, at the moment:

1. I hate Melanie for trying to manipulate Michael.

2. I hate Emily for thinking that there was no way out but to kill herself.

3. I like Jordan- he makes me laugh. :)

4. I TOTALLY SHIP GUS AND MICHAEL. I mean it's sad she's cheating on James, but they seem so happy together. :P

5. You totally called it on the marital problems between the couples!

Hailley Dawn--✖ When you love somebody, they'll always leave too soon ✖ (Hailleydawnmona) | 85 comments 1- yes. Melanie just annoys me in general :/
2- I definitely agree with that
3- hmm he's very interesting I suppose
4- same!!!!!!!!! Just hope things don't get mucked up between them :/(

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Ohhhhhh craphatsss I should have made that in a spoiler tag, just realized. Sorry! I guess you were up to that bit anyway? But sorry, completely forgot. :(

But yeah, I realllly dislike Melanie too. She just can't ACCEPT that maybe she didn't see that Emily was suicidal, if she was. I hate that she's so determined to blame Chris. :(((

Hailley Dawn--✖ When you love somebody, they'll always leave too soon ✖ (Hailleydawnmona) | 85 comments I understand it would be hard to accept that your daughter was suicidal, but it is just sad that she is determined to blame a boy she's known all her life, and who was practically family. And how she treats Gus >_<

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. It's just a really sorry state of affairs. :P

So what bit are you up to now?

Hailley Dawn--✖ When you love somebody, they'll always leave too soon ✖ (Hailleydawnmona) | 85 comments I'm at the part when they are at his trial now. Quite far thru XD WBu?

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished! XD I couldn't stop reading, it gets really good towards the end.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Cool! I loved the ending...

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

You done? :)

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Hailley?

Hailley Dawn--✖ When you love somebody, they'll always leave too soon ✖ (Hailleydawnmona) | 85 comments Ack sorry! Was offline for a while, I had homework most of the time :/ anyway, yes I finally finished! What'd you rate it?

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah, no worries :D

I rated it 4 stars too! I think it lost a star because I wasn't so huge on Chris pressuring Emily into sex and stuff- from what I could tell from the stuff he did and said later on in the book it didn't seem to match his character. It seemed like he genuinely cared for Emily and wouldn't have pressured her into that kind of stuff. What'd you think?

Hailley Dawn--✖ When you love somebody, they'll always leave too soon ✖ (Hailleydawnmona) | 85 comments I definitely agree with that. I wasn't pleased with that stuff. And at times it went a bit slowly in my opinion. But it was still really good. It was suspenseful and interesting.. Here's the question: do you think Chris was guilty?

message 34: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 02, 2014 01:52PM) (new)

That's a really hard one to answer... XD

I think... no. Well, sort of. I still feel like he could've done more to help her out- I hate that he thought his only option was to help Emily kill herself. I wish he'd TOLD somebody or something. But I do get that he loved her so much he thought it would only hurt her more to stay alive. His speech at the trial kind of won me over, too. :)

But then again, I guess he did try to stop her:

“No," he said calmly, filled with purpose. He took her arms lightly in his hands and shook her. "I am not giving you up."
Emily looked at him, and for just a moment he could read her thoughts. Melanie use to say they were like twins, with their own secret, silent language. In that instant, Chris felt her fear and her resignation, and the knotty pain of coming up against a brick wall again and again. She glanced away, and he could breathe again.
"The thing is, Chris," Emily said, "it's not your choice.”

So, overall? I AM VERY CONFLICTED. XD What about you?

Hailley Dawn--✖ When you love somebody, they'll always leave too soon ✖ (Hailleydawnmona) | 85 comments Yes I am conflicted. Too but I think maybe not. I'm not completely convinced that he's innocent though....

message 36: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 13, 2014 11:51PM) (new)

Yeah... he seemed kind of... iffy at the start. I don't know. I think I just trusted him more towards the end of the book.

Blasted Jodi Picoult! She always pulls crap like this- I never know what to think of her characters XD

Hailley Dawn--✖ When you love somebody, they'll always leave too soon ✖ (Hailleydawnmona) | 85 comments XD it was my first Jodi Picoult book :) what one by her should I try next??

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol, sorry I just read this now. I don't know... 'My Sister's Keeper' is definitely worth a try. It was the first one I ever read by her, and I still think it's the best. :)
