Peter (peterlean) | 236 comments Dear All,
I don't know if I am posting this in the right section and folder.

Anyway, let me tell you about my project.

I am planning to create a collection of short stories, written by different authors but all built on the same 'incipit' (one short paragraph that I wrote some time ago, driven by sudden inspiration, and that has already been used to create a short story - 4hands written - already published).
In other words, I would like to gather a small group of writers and give each one of them this short paragraph, based on which they will write their own stories. I am really curious to see what different plots and endings it will lead to.
The theme is such that a thousand different stories could be made of it... but I'd like to limit the number to 11 stories (one story is already written, so ten new will be included).
Let me know if any of you is interested. I will send you later on the paragraph, or maybe just copy and past it into this thread. Nobody should, however, read the already written story, in order not to be biased by it.
I already have in mind a title for the collection ('Eleven Space and Time Short Stories'), but it is obviously subject to changes, following your comments and suggestions.

Let me know :-)

It sounds like a very interesting concept. I'd need to see the opening paragraph first, but I might be game to give it a try if the opening paragraph appeals to me. I'm betting it does since you have interesting ideas for your stories/novels. Message it or email it to me?

Be sure to let me know how many people you still need to join the project by the end of this month and I'll make an announcement in the next newsletter.

This is a cool concept. Have you ever read, "Machine of Death"? It is a similar collection of stories all stemming from a central concept -in that instance, a machine that told you how you were going to die.

I would be interested in being involved.

Timothy Michael Lewis (timothymichaellewis) | 101 comments Does sound like it could be interesting.

Peter (peterlean) | 236 comments Happy to hear that someone is interested in the project! :-)

I will start sending you all the opening paragraph (actually, it does not need to be the opening one.... it could also be place in the middle or at the end, on discretion of the author).

My idea, as said above, is to gather 10 other stories (I alrady have the first one, and the total will be 11). It could be 1o different authors, one per each story, but also less if one of you would like to contribute with more than one story.

Later on we'll decide the best way to publish the collection. Ideally, it should be published for free, as we did in the past with 'Wyrldworlds', ideated by Steph.

message 6: by Peter (new)

Peter (peterlean) | 236 comments As said above, from the same opening I have made a story of 7000 words, but it would be fine anything from 3000 to 10.000 (5000/7000 would be ideal).
Please, feel free to express your creativity in the way that most fits your style :-)

I am sending to you all via pvt mesg the opening paragraph.

Peter (peterlean) | 236 comments Amy suggested me to set up a private group for the collaborative project, so that we can discuss what we're all doing and push each other along.
I will also copy the opening paragraph in the private thread, once it has been set up.

message 11: by Peter (new)

Peter (peterlean) | 236 comments The private group has been set up, and invitations already sent to the ones who already wrote in this thread.

Let's continue there! :)

Others who wants to join the group, please write to me or to Amy, or just here....

Peter,

I don't consider myself a writer...so if you are looking for "publishable" quality, I am not qualified. However, the project intrigues me and would love to be an Alpha or Beta reader to any and all of the groups efforts...

message 20: by Peter (new)

Peter (peterlean) | 236 comments Hi Lincoln!
You are one of my first friends here in GR, and I will be more than happy to add you to the group.

And, yes, you can contribute with a story... I have already appreciated your writing in our experiment of the 'neverending story' :) And if your story needs an editing, I will be happy to do it.

message 21: by Andy (new)

Andy Taylor (sooguy) | 89 comments Peter I'm intrigued. Are you still looking for participants?
