Grreat!!!! Are Julia and her twins?
Read it. Blown away to Canada. Then to Brazil. Then to Africa. Then back here.
Thanks, daddy. I start having tears in my eyes. My dress is red velvet, tightly hugging my body ‘till halfway my thigh. Then the skirts flows open to reveal a white petticoat. My black hair is half up in a curly bun, with white pearls in the top half.
I hear a noise, and I look around to see Julia. She’s wearing a blue knee length cocktail dress with nude pumps. Her lovely dark red curls are tied into a braid over her right shoulder.
My two sweet daughters, all grown up, getting ready for their prom.
Dad, you’re making us cry! Julia signs to him.
The lamps flicker.
I think our dates are here. I am glowing.
We walk downstairs, and there are waiting David and Wesley.
W-E-S-L-E-Y? I laugh.
D-A-V-I-D? Julia laughs back.
We greet our dates, and head to prom. I’ve decided not to spend tonight sulking, so I tell Julia that I don’t want Bird near me. She looks at me funny, but doesn’t say anything about it.

“So, why did you go with Wesley, and not with Tylar?” I ask Julia that night. It had been a magical prom. I was crowned Queen, which was kind of a no-brainer since I’m captain of the cheerleaders. David was crowned King, also a no-brainer. He’s captain of the football team. I hadn’t seen Bird all night, thanks to Julia I believe.
“Because Wesley asked me, and Tylar doesn’t acknowledge me?” she says.
“What do you mean, he doesn’t acknowledge you? Remember when I had to call Jeffrey to get me out of Wortham’s? Tylar picked up the phone. Asking how YOU were.”
“He did?”
“Yes, you idiot. Now what is your real problem?”
“I don’t have-” Julia stops talking when I give her the you-have-a-problem-and-you-know-it look. “Fine. My problem is you. You got the Football captain as your date, you’re the cheerleader captain, you’re life is bloody perfect, and you can get any guy you want! Here I am, saying yes to WESLEY of all people, just to have a date for crying out loud!” Julia yells.
“You done?” I ask steadily.
Julia takes a deep breath. “Yes.”
“Good. Then it’s now my turn to yell. You’re just as smart, just as sexy, and just as brave as I am. You want to know how I know that? You’re me, and I am you. We are exactly alike-”
“You dyed your hair.” Julia tries to interrupt me.
“-Which means that your life is as perfect as mine, and that you can get as many guys as I can. And FYI, it’s not like I have a date every other day, so stop your whining. Now, come here, and I’ll get those tangles out of your hair.”
I grab a brush as Julia comes sit in front of me.
