We'll use this space to talk about our favorite words, characters and moments from this month's book: The Incredible Magic of Being by Kathryn Erskine. I can't wait to read your thoughts about the book! Happy reading!

Arnav Jain | 17 comments I liked that Julian tried to go after his sister Pookie when she ran away. A word I really liked was Asciugamano which is the Italian word for towel. Another word I liked was Munshifa which is the Arabic word for towel. Also it was surprising that Mr. X’s family was Italian so when Julian said Asciugamano at the dock in a swimming lesson, it was funny that Mr. X asked Julian what he needed a towel for when he wasn’t even wet.

Hey, Arnav! Thanks so much for sharing your favorite words with us! I love when authors include fun details for their readers to discover. If you didn't know the meanings of ascuigamano and munshifa then you wouldn't get the joke!

It was pretty funny when Mr X asked why he needed a towel. Also, I think it was cool when Julian explained about about Uni-sensing.
Do you have a dog? I do.

Emilio | 17 comments I liked the incredible magic of being and I'm glad we picked it for book club. I really liked how Julian liked dogs because I like them too. Do any of you have a dog? Hope you guys liked it as much as I did!

Hey Emilio! I'm so glad you liked the book—I really enjoyed it, too! I have a dog named Chester who turns four years old in two weeks. Do you have any pets?
