daeshim is definitely stranger than most demigods. if you can even say that. first of all, his powers … don’t exactly work. secondly, his personality opposes itself. though he’s quiet most of the time, he’s incredibly friendly. hardly ever shy. he’s very thoughtful, and constantly loses himself in daydreams. he’s not abrupt, or fiery, despite his conversation tactics; he’s careful and cautious, but still sure of himself. he’s got a quiet, sleepy ember, in opposition to a raging fire. embers can spark too, though.
the only downside of daeshim’s status as counselor is the attention he gets. he doesn’t like being constantly in the spotlight. he’d step down if he could. but he’s nearly the only mnemosyne camper; it’s his responsibility. though as a mnemosyne camper, he can wipe, change, and read other’s memories, the powers usually backfire on him. he ends up changing his own when he means to change others. he’s learning better control, but it’s just something about the culmination of his power that keeps it from working properly.
in the end, daeshim’s just another broken part.

her parents named her after a gemstone, which is surely what they thought she’d turn out to be. their sweet southern carolina peach, pageant queen. ruby, however, had bigger dreams. she began acting at twelve, when her drama class in school elected her as the leading role. she was the best in her class, for years. eventually scouts came, and non-play related drama ensued. she was recruited for her first movie a month later, and it was a hit. she quickly rose to small fame. she was living in hollywood with her own pool and designer clothes. she had everything she’d ever wanted.
and then, it all came crumbling down.
the demigod hunt began, and she was so caught up in it that she didn’t realize that she was one of them. her powers hadn’t exactly manifested yet, and she’d grown up with her so-called birth parents, so she didn’t know she was a demigod. she sure didn’t want to be.
so, when ruby set fire to the set a week later, it came as a surprise. she hid her powers for as long as she could and pretended she’d only dropped a cigarette. Of course, this only led to tabloids about smoking and such, but she suffered through it. until she decided to take another peek and lost control.
now, being born and raised in south carolina, most would think ruby is a peachy sweetheart. she’s very much not. though her acting career earned her vanity and a nose job, she never quite cared. she’s always been a bit too-cool, and that showed especially when she went into acting. ariana grande and zendaya weren’t exactly the best role models. she learned to be pretty slutty and just generally a play-girl, if there’s even such a thing.
ruby is, in summary, vain. she cares a lot about her appearance and reputation. she can be rude. she can be mean. she doesn’t care. her vanity, though, doesn’t mean she can’t be sweet. but her default is hollywood.
at least, on the outside.

daeshim grew up with a single father and two older siblings, from a past marriage. he was the baby. on his birthday, he always wished for them to be happy, and kissed each of his family members on the forehead before they went to sleep.
and then, he was dead.
without knowing, he’d accidentally re-written their memories. he was just a strange boy in his father’s kitchen, unknown and faceless. he was taken to the local daycare center, and when no one picked him up after a day and a night, the teachers called the foster care system. he told them his name, and they turned white. daeshim cheong? isn’t he that boy that fell off the bridge?
after living alone, haunted by his own ghost, he was eventually found by his mother and guided to the camp.
daeshim, as mnemosyne’s son, has memory powers. his powers, though, is one of the reasons most of the campers avoid him. he is able to affect, alter, re-shape, and add to other’s memories, but it never goes how he wants it to. instead, what usually happens is not what he intends. he can wish for a small thing while touching somone (his powers require physical contact) and their memories will change to accommodate that wish, even if he was just making a note in his mind. sometimes, daeshim’s powers just completely backfire and wipe numerous people, including himself.
and it’s not getting better, even with practice.
daeshim has a rather strange personality that deters most. he’s quiet and muted. he’s incredibly secretive, and has high walls built around his heart — he doesn’t let anyone in. if someone ever took the time to get to know him, they would be surprised. he’s really just lonely. he’s quite friendly and incredibly loyal; he just needs someone to show it to.
the fact is, though. no one would ever try to get to know him.
