Jo (jo961) | 21 comments I just wanted to celebrate the fact that I am taking a big step this year and am going to do the MA in Creative Writing at the University of Plymouth! I have wanted to do something like this for years but haven't had the confidence. I was made redundant this summer and decided there was not time like the present. I started a new (part-time) job today and am looking forward to starting at the University on 20th September. I wonder if I will be the oldest student...!

Hi Jo,
Well done, a great decision and don't worry! I did the MA at Exeter Uni when we moved to Devon and thoroughly enjoyed it - although it was hard work. I was in my 50s, but was not the oldest, by any means. I think that about a third of each different module was made up of mature students. However, what several of us older ones had done, was to do the Course part-time and spread it over 2 years. I was travelling a long distance and we moved house and I don't think I would have coped if I'd been full-time. However, I think it was a very 'heavy' course and the ones friends have done since have not seemed so intense, or had so much contact time. Enjoy it and let us know how it goes!! Carole
