The Physician
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2101473/...
It was the first movie on my list that had all of the needed letters. It is also available on Netflix in Canada right now.
2. A book from the first 10 books added to your To Be Read list
St. Vincent
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2170593/...
Bill Murray is a good comedian and sometimes all the body needs is a laugh. This movie is 2nd on my IMDb list right now.
3. A book from the 2017 Goodreads Choice Awards
Spotlight
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1895587/...
At first I thought about using a book to film adaptation that was a winner or nominee on Goodreads for any year. It was difficult to find one so I chose a film that was already on my list and has won a few awards.
This film has won 121 awards and been nominated for 138
4. 4 books linked by the 4 elements: Book #1 Earth (in title, cover, content, setting, author...)
Still looking for this one
5. A book about or inspired by real events
The Big Short
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1596363/...
I have wanted to see this film so badly but just did not ever seem to have time. This is a good way just sit down with a large tub of popcorn and enjoy.
6. A book originally written in a language other than English
I am not sure how to deal with this one other than to watch something with subtitles. Dubbing is a horrible thing, at least it was in French class watching the "Romance and the Stone" for the hundredth time.
✔7. A gothic novel
Winchester 6/10 ⭐
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1072748/...
A few of the reviews listed this as a gothic horror. It seemed a good fit here.
8. An "own voices" book*
Really not sure about how to deal with this one. Does the director, writer and actor/actresses need to all be counted. Does only one of those need to be considered? Is the writer the most important part to fill this one?
9. A book with a body part in the title (heart, bones, teeth, skin, blood, etc)
Nerve
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3531824/...
This one jumped out of the list at me. 😋
10. An author's debut book (their first book to be published)
So this one has to be a director's debut. After a search on Wikipedia "The Greatest Showman" popped up. I love Hugh Jackman so this is a must.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1485796/...
11. A literary fiction
Not sure about this one yet. How does literary fiction translate into movies?

Oh, I love Hugh Jackman too lol <3
My friend just watched this and said ALL of them ( even her boyfriend) loved it, and then she mentioned it was a musical so....
I watched it a few weeks ago with my girls because we are all HUGE musical fans, and it was fantastic!! They even made me rewind the last scene so they could watch it over again. When we were doing our back to school shopping my oldest daughter came up to me with the DVD copy in her hand and wanted to buy it to bring home😊
I told her I would buy a digital on Amazon so it wouldn't get all scratched. I hope you enjoy it!!
For the Own Voices prompt, I would definitely go with something like Crazy Rich Asians or To All The Boys I've Loved Before... both based on books that were own voices, and both are very representative of the culture (without stereotyping). Those are two that jumped out at me, but I think any movie where the characters are minorities and are played by characters of that actual race/gender identity/disability would be good (so no whitewashing of Asian characters, or having fully abled actors play disabled people, etc.)
For literary fiction, you could probably do any award-winning movie that is critically acclaimed but maybe not super popular in the box office.
I love this idea, by the way! So creative!

@Emily Thank you for the suggestions. "All the boys" is on Netflix right now so I may put that one in. For literary drama may work.🤔
I am having fun going through Netflix and my library's collection finding movies to fit. I may even do this next year.

I would definitely go with something sub-titled for translation prompt. A Man Called Ove is available on Amazon Prime.
Another option for Own Voices is BlacKkKlansman which I definitely recommend seeing.

When I am on a computer next I will make a post in Fun and Games.

In some cases I have altered the prompts to fit movies or TV shows and may need some help with how to alter others to suit. I will be listing reasons for the choices beside each entry. This is just a tongue in cheek kind of thing, something to have a good laugh with, so please feel free to add comments on your choices or suggestions how to alter the prompts.
I am not sure if the link will work but this is my IMDb list.
