Hi John - The sign ups close tonight, however the Games will start November 19th and go until March 4th - for fifteen weeks.

Groups will be put together and announced in the next few days after I create them and get in contact with the leaders for each of the groups. Then, group boards will be created, team names will be chosen, and on Nov. 19th, everyone will begin racking in their points.

I give a bit of time as people are around the world -so November 19th depending on your part of the world (thats why boards are created a little earlier!)

Can always check the Welcome post for more details on how it runs, the duration of the games, etc.

amber (thelittlematchgirl) | 243 comments Hey Rachel, have you heard from Megan? She hasn't set up team three's log yet.

message 7: by Sheena (last edited Nov 10, 2018 08:28AM) (new)

Sheena Davis (sheenad) Rachel, can you confirm number of books required for the series?

"Each member must finish a saga, trilogy, etc. (must start and finish within the time frame!) - This can be all different series for each person on the team, it just needs to be a series with more than three books."

'must finish a sage, trilogy, etc' sounds like minimum of 3 books, but later note 'more than three' indicates at least 4 books.
Thanks

Sorry, thats my bad. I will make that more clear. It is THREE BOOK plus. So at least three, but you can go beyond that!

hello! I haven't - go ahead and message them and see if they can add their log. If they remain silent when the games start we adjust things accordingly.

message 13: by Sam (new)

Sam (aramsamsam) Hi Rachel, is there a rule on rereads?

message 14: by Rach , Moderator (new)

Rach (rsjreads) | 2955 comments Mod
Hi! No rule! But you actually have to re read the book! :)

message 15: by Sam (new)

Sam (aramsamsam) Sure thing - it's not a reread if you don't reread ;) Thanks for clarifying.

message 16: by Amber (new)

Amber | 93 comments Hi Rachel,

I have a question regarding one of the obstacles. It’s the read three books (trilogy, saga, etc.) in a series obstacle. Can it be graphic novel series?

message 17: by Rach , Moderator (new)

Rach (rsjreads) | 2955 comments Mod
Hi Amber- no graphic novel series for that obstacle. Good question!

message 18: by Amber (new)

Amber | 93 comments Hi Rachel,

I have a question about the obstacle that requires a read that starts with a letter from the word, “coffee” AND “books”.

When you say the book has to start with a letter, does that mean the first letter or it has to include one letter from “coffee” and one letter from “books”.

Please explain start, since a book can only start with ONE letter.

Also, many books start with the word, “the”, can we omit the word “the” when choosing our book?

message 19: by Rach , Moderator (new)

Rach (rsjreads) | 2955 comments Mod
You can exclude the small phrases like the, a, if. And the book needs to start with one of the letters you find in COFFEE AND BOOKS.

Lana Jackson | 48 comments Hi Rachel,
I was just wondering can you use the same book in two obstacles?
For example If I read a graphic novel can I also put that book under a new genre as its not a book I would usually read. Or do we need to have a different book for each obstacle?
Thank you

Hi Lana! A new book for each obstacle. Only one book will count!

Meagan Hey Rachel! Just want to double check for this one, each team member does NOT have to read the same book?

. Read a book where the title starts with a letter in COFFEE AND BOOKS.

message 26: by Meagan (new)

Meagan A few people on my team having not created logs...Markie, Audrey or Dawn. How should I proceed?

Try sending them a personal message and reaching out asking them to create a log. If you cannot get a hold of them in the next few days (it is a holiday week for a lot of people in the states so if they are there they may be on holiday), we can go from there. But lets see what that does first! Let me know :)

Amber | 93 comments Hi Rachel,

John had a request for Team Two. He was wondering if you could change the first post to team 2. The current post throws him off.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Not super sure what you mean. Was it because it said team one originally. Hopefully thats it & it has been changed since!

Also, I need your teams name so I can update - team two won't be your team name unless thats what you guys end up sticking with. it is more of a place holder.

message 31: by Meagan (new)

Meagan What about books that are less than 100 pages?

message 32: by Rach , Moderator (new)

Rach (rsjreads) | 2955 comments Mod
I posted something on the obstacles regarding this. Only poetry books for the non-fiction genre obstacle, or graphic novel/comic can be less than that. All other books and obstacle books need to be 100+

Ann Marie (annmariemandile) | 91 comments Hi Rachel and everyone!
Can anyone recommend any books with questions listed by the author at lol the end. I know I should have my own questions but I love the feeling like I am taking a test per se. I guess I am missing going to school where the schoolbooks had questions after each chapter in English literature and what not?

Try these websites for questions:
Reading Group Guides
LitLovers

You might have to join them (free) to access all the info.

By the Way ... most of those books with questions at the end ... The questions are NOT written by the author, but by the publisher's marketing team.
