jess (nu6586) | 1729 comments I’ in, but Ive also got Wheel of Time and a Malazan book before!
I’m so screwed this month!

message 12: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan Hehe... that's huge Jess.

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin | 1338 comments Yes! I need to continue on with Malazan too 😳. My reread if Wheel books have been put off 😕

message 14: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan Hi Melissa, where are you at with Malazan. I barely opened Bonehunters and I expect to join the next wave through.

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin | 1338 comments Ungth! I need to reread House of Chains and then move on to the ones I haven’t gotten to. I’m just reading the 10 not the ones from what’s his head 😊

Dont I know it?!

I miss your commentary on the Malazan thread Graeme!!

message 17: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan I'm just on the main 10 book thread. That's enough for me.

message 18: by jess (new)

jess (nu6586) | 1729 comments Graeme wrote: "I'm just on the main 10 book thread. That's enough for me."

Oh! Well some s*** went down in Return of the Crimson guard!

message 19: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan Thanks Jess. High praise indeed.

I really do have too much to do that competes with reading time.

I petered out with #6 Bonehunters. I think also I was looking something more lighthearted than Malazan, although I fully expect to finish the series.

message 20: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan RotCG is a spin-off isn't it?

message 21: by jess (new)

jess (nu6586) | 1729 comments Its Esslemont’s 2nd “Novels of the Malazan Empre”. They are def not Erikson, but so many key characters showed up in RoCG.

It is a LOT of reading. But the Malazan books top my list of priority reads, plus I need Scott’s notes and the forum!

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin | 1338 comments Graeme wrote: "I'm just on the main 10 book thread. That's enough for me."

Yay! I’m not the only one 😊. I topped commenting there because there are so many and I get nervous.

message 23: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan Frankly, I've got my own stories to tell, and if I read everything in sight I'll never get them done.

Plus my day job eats time.

message 24: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan Melissa, your comments are great. Everyone loves your comments.

No I’m stupid!! But go look at the book on my profile page!! I just got it today and I might faint!!

Youre not stupid Mel. By now, theres probably only 6 or 7 of us that are caught up/one book behind on the forums (we were the 2nd group, not the one starting this yr)! So theres not a ton of us anymore.

message 27: by jess (new)

jess (nu6586) | 1729 comments RoCG is a Novel from the Malazan Empire. #2

Okay. I just feel stupid because I don’t talk about much. I don’t know how to describe things in the books. People seems to talk waayyy above my brain level 😉

Graeme Rodaughan Hi All, I found the original receipt in my trade paperback copy of this book. I purchased it on the 8th of October 1996.

I'm reading it for the first time with this buddy read. So this book waited in my library for more than 22 years to get read...

Sounds familiar. My cousin gave me a copy of Curse in the early 90s and i never read it until last year's BR.

Wow, Graeme 😊

message 32: by jess (new)

jess (nu6586) | 1729 comments Graeme, that is so amazing! I bet that edition isn’t sold anymore. Love stories like that.
Bibliophiles’ lives always have stories like that, if you did deep enough.

message 33: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan I sell my books to second hand book shops ... so, the two books, Curse and this one survived multiple purges.

It must be destiny!

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin | 1338 comments The beginning and ole Dakar 😃

message 35: by Daniel (new)

Daniel | 1534 comments Dakar is the worst form of comic relief. An old fat smelly intolerant drunken wretch...but other than that he is a swell upstanding sorcerer’s apprentice.

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin | 1338 comments Daniel wrote: "Dakar is the worst form of comic relief. An old fat smelly intolerant drunken wretch...but other than that he is a swell upstanding sorcerer’s apprentice."

I can’t 🤣😂

message 37: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan I'm 10 pages in. A quick step forward in time.

message 38: by Daniel (new)

Daniel | 1534 comments Well good. The greatest thing about books it that all readers get something different from each character, plot, and so on...It is the same thing as food, everyone’s palate is different so we each get a different reaction to the identical food!

In the first BR, Dakar had his fans, and his ahem*detractors...lol

message 39: by Daniel (new)

Daniel | 1534 comments Finishing up Deadhouse Gates tomorrow, then will be all in, I hope 🙏

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin | 1338 comments I stopped at Petition which starts at page 11. That’s funny Graeme, we read the same! 😃. But now I’m going to bed! Night Night

message 41: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan Sleep well my friend.

message 42: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Hi everyone. 🤗
I'll start this also today. Looking forward to reading it with you all. Fingers crossed you'll like it. :)

message 43: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments @Daniel - "swell upstanding sorcerer's apprentice"?! (*snort*)

message 44: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan Actually, I don't get Dakar's behavior. He's very old and very immature.

message 45: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (vinjii) | 1147 comments You know what, I wanted to shake Dakar for about three novels, then I grew fond of him. Now I feel protective of him and in this second read-through actually am not as annoyed by his drunken idiocy.

message 46: by Graeme (new)

Graeme Rodaughan That's great Olivia, now I can look forward to his redemption.

message 47: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments I have been asked by another GR reader/reviewer to clarify a few of his doubts regarding Curse of the Mistwraith. As I finally managed to get to my computer today, I added the answers to his issues at the back of my review.

Here is the link if any of you would like to check those answers out. I would appreciate some feedback, because those are, after all, conclusions drawn from my personal understanding of this series.

Thank you! 😊

In the first books I alternated in between wanting to strangle him and wanting to give him a big hug. Right now, what Olivia said. :)

message 49: by Bea (new)

Bea | 2050 comments I need to start this even though I'm not that motivated...but I know you guys will help me :D

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin | 1338 comments I’m back! Thanks, Graeme! I was asleep before I got your comment 😊

I’m going to read some on this book and another book today. I’m not feeling that great so we shall see.
