Give in to the Glamour…

Sixteen-year-old Ryann Carroll has just run into the guy who saved her life ten years ago. You might think she'd be happy to see him again. Not exactly. She's a bit underdressed (as in skinny-dipping) and he's not supposed to exist.

After her father's affair, all Ryann wants is to escape the family implosion fallout and find a little peace. She also wouldn't mind a first date that didn't suck, but she's determined not to end up like her mom: vulnerable, betrayed, destroyed. Ryann's recently moved back to her childhood home in rural Mississippi, the same place where ten years earlier she became lost in the woods overnight and nearly died.

She's still irresistibly drawn to those woods. There she encounters the boy who kept her from freezing to death that long ago winter night and was nowhere to be seen when rescuers arrived. He's still mysterious, but now all grown-up and gorgeous, too. And the more she's with him, the greater the threat he poses to Ryann's strict policy-- never want someone more than he wants you.

Seventeen-year-old Lad knows the law of his people all too well: Don't get careless and Don't get caught. It's allowed his race to live undetected in this world for thousands of years, mentioned only in flawed and fading folklore…

Lad's never been able to forget about Ryann since that night ten years ago. When he sees her again, his fascination re-ignites and becomes a growing desire that tempts him to break all the rules. He's not even supposed to talk to a human, much less fall in love with one.

And the timing is atrocious. The Assemblage is coming, the rift between the Light and Dark is widening, and mysterious celebrity fan pods are becoming more and more widespread and influential. Lad may have to trade his own chance at happiness to keep the humans, especially Ryann, blissfully unaware and safe.

25%ish (view spoiler)[ Hmmm very interesting. I really like this book so far. Ryann is a pretty strong independent character for only being 16. I will say, I feel bad for her mom but I feel even worse for Ryann being so old when your parents get divorced brings a whole mess of problems. Her mom teaching Ryann to be jaded is pretty heartbreaking. So far Ryann and Lad's relationship is adorable. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 8 (view spoiler)[ So far so good. Ryann met the wild man Lad which has a very weird life so far. I wonder what "group" he keeps saying he is in. I don't know yet if I like Nox yet.... He has two different personalities. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 19 (view spoiler)[ I still haven't figured out who Lad is yet. I wanted to say Vampire because he "flies" and is beautiful and doesn't want to go to far with Ryann. BUT he grows and he didn't kill the drunk hunters. I have a feeling it'll be revealed very soon though and I'll get all my answers! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 24 (view spoiler)[ AN ELF! That was a shocker, I did figure out that Ryann was a part of it pretty early though. I hope she goes to live with him it seems as though it is a part of her she never knew was missing. I also have a feeling Nox is one of the dark elves.... (hide spoiler)]

Done! (view spoiler)[ I actually really enjoyed this book. I called that Nox was a dark elf, but of course it had to be the brother. The end was a cliff hanger though, where will he take Ryann! (hide spoiler)]

Ch 8 (23%) - (view spoiler)[ Aw, Lad is so sweet. I ship them, but I'm worried that Ryann's mother has messed with her head too much. That whole - "don't fall for a man, just use them" mentality bugs me. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 17 (50%) - (view spoiler)[ Suspicions: 1) Grandma was an elf and must be related to Lad's dad somehow and that's why he hates Ryann. 2) Nox must be a dark elf and/or this "brother" that Lad mentioned a while ago. -- What I can't quite figure out is where this plot is going - are the dark elves after the saol water and going to try to get it? Is Grandma a long lost queen and Ryann will be in line to the throne, which will cause a riff between her and Lad? Ahh, I guess I have to keep reading. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 23 - (view spoiler)[ Hmmm, I'm thinking that putting the saol water in the tea might not be that good of an idea if anyone with elf blood can taste it right off. Won't that expose Ryann and her family? I'm still thinking Nox is out to get her and this will tip him off to her involvement with Lad. I also don't like how Grandma and Mom are against her liking Lad - they seem really hypocritical given the choices they made/continue to make. (hide spoiler)]
Finished - (view spoiler)[ Uh, ok. Not as complex an ending as I was hoping for. Her tea saves the forest, and Lad's dad remembers what young love was like and everyone is happy again? That is, until the epilogue - What the what! How did his dad die? Seems a little sudden. And the whole "take her", "I will" - huh?? Doesn't that just mean take her home? Is Nox really going to kidnap her? I doubt it. I also doubt Lad would just let her go. Once he calms down about his father's death, I'm sure he will seek her out and all will be well again.
