No one is starting to nominate any books. So I'll be the first. I wish to nominate St. Francis de Sales' Introduction to the Devout Life. I bet many have read this, but I haven't, and it's one of those must reads.

What is it, Nadine and I'll check for you.

Oh yes. That’s free on line. You can nominate that and I think Kerstin had been talking about wanting to read it as well. I’ll provide you the link when I get to my desktop.

Ha! You can't nominate both books. (1) One nomination per person and (2) I already nominated it...lol. Nominations mean it will go in the poll for a vote. Perhaps you're confusing a second to a nomination. I know there are some book clubs here on Goodreads that require someone to nominate a book and another person to "second" the nomination. We don't do that here. That's for large book clubs with so many people that the nominations would be too many. But thank you for your enthusiasm Nadine.
Here's a link to an online version of Thomas a Kempis' The Imitation of Christ:

There are others as well if you don't like this translation. Just Google "The Imitation of Christ Online."

Imitation of Christ has its 600th anniversary this year since its publication in 1418. This is why I thought of nominating it. Thank you Nadine for thinking of it as well :)

Interesting. Kindle has it for 99 cents by the way. It's probably free online as well.

Nominations are now complete. We have three works nominated.
Introduction to the Devout Life by St. Francis de Sales
The Imitation of Christ by Thomas a Kempis
Confessions of a Convert by Robert Hugh Benson
I will set up the poll this afternoon.

Here is one of those quirky goodreads things, the comments under the poll don't show up in the notifications. Not sure why that is.
In a nutshell, Confessions of a Convert won, but we'll read the other two as well. Manny made the announcement under the poll comments

and he also sent out a broadcast message. So for anyone not getting any of these, here is my effort to close the loop. :)

Nominations start now. Some basic rules, though these are not the only rules. One nomination per person. No nominating a book that you have written. It has to be relevant to Catholicism in some way, or at least Christian that does not spurn Catholicism.
This read is a low priced book read to help some of our members who need to budget their book purchases. So whatever is nominated must have a purchase option where the price is no more than $5 American currency. This can usually be accomplished through used book options on Amazon, ebook options, and free online publishing. Luckily, there are many Catholic books that predate the 1923 public availability date.
Nominations will end about Saturday night the 29th or the wee hours of that Sunday morning.
