Lorcan and Elide grow close as they make their way towards Aelin. Thought on their relationship, particularly Lorcan's actions and his decision not to take the Wyrdkey from Elide by force (once he realizes she has it).

Elide stood up to Lorcan. She never let him have the upper hand and I think he admired that. She's a strong smart girl and Lorcan grew to respect her. I think his decision not to take the Wyrdkey from her shows that respect.

Elide intrigued Loran. She didn't fear him, she didn't back down and she taught him a few things.

This was the moment when I realized Lorcan was capable of really loving Elide. He respected her enough not to take the Wyrdkey.
