Jinka | 3 comments Hello fellow members Young Adult Book Club I need your help. I've been browsing some of these other discussion boards and you all seem like rather nice, well informed, helpful individuals so I was wondering If you could now help me. I need monster lore lots of it. I have a job that leaves me very little time for surfing for monster lore.
Why do I need lots of monster lore? well I need help with a book I am writing. You see I couldn't help but notice that nearly all books that have "monsters" in human shape normally turn out to be books about fairies, vampires, sirens, genies, Dragons, Phoenixes and/or werewolves. Keep in mind that there are hundreds of cultures all with their own set of monsters. So really the list I gave above is very small compared to the grand scheme of things.
Basic plot thus far: A teenage girl named Olivia awakens from a two month coma to find two very interesting things have happened when she was asleep. One all known existence of her has been erased. Two,Kismet, the entity of luck from her online short story series has come to life, and he is trying to save her from the villain of her story who didn't escape but in fact has existed the entire time. Olivia and Kismet must figure out who they really are, what is hunting them, and adapt to a world filled with other monsters.
The main characters I have pretty well much planned out, but all good heroes need lovable side kicks so please help me gather monster on beasties both good and evil. the more obscure the better! please include their name, country of origin, alignment, basic description, and power.
Feedback, suggestions, comments, and questions are also appreciated.

Thank You!

Ashlee I know you say you don't have much time, but if you're writing a book you need to make time for research

Perhaps start here http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o... and once you find a creature that interests you you can research more about it.

Good luck

M. Dobson (meg_evonne) | 20 comments I found a purchase (maybe you could find it at library) of a big illustrated book called "the encyclopedia of mythic monsters etc" but can't find. Most comprehensive world listing ever. I'll post tonight.

Or make one up. Just don't give it 'convenient' powers as you need them for each scene!
