Chapter 5

I wasn't a big fan of Shallan in the first book, but I'm finding myself warming me about her and her potential as a character. I hope that she'll keep growing.

I'm intrigued about Jasnah, I wish we could have her POV. Her participation in acquiring an assassin in the prologue keeps bugging me.

How on Earth is Dalinar supposed to make a strong kingdom in 61 days is beyond me.

I like Adolin a lot in the Way of Kings but seeing him with Kaladin's eyes is starting to open my eyes to him. I don't understand why Adolin keeps treating Kal like this, I mean, he did save him and his father.

SADEAS, I HATE HIM SO MUCH. At least in the WOK I thought his intentions weren't so bad when he committed treason. But now I do hate him so much more.

I don't really like Navani as a character, and her relationship with Dalinar isn't really something that I enjoy. (hide spoiler)]

Also, (view spoiler)[I keep getting worried about the Parshendi. I mean, there are soldiers, there are spies everywhere. How are they even going to do them??? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6
(view spoiler)[I'm listening the Graphic Audio of this, and the voice of Pattern is so funny because they actually gave it vibration. I'm sorry, I just wanted to say it!

Interlude 4
(view spoiler)[I love that we got to know the Parshendi. Their culture is so interesting. The way the use singing to communicate is so peculiar. Also, this is not the behavior you expect of the Voidbringers definitely there is something wrong about all of this.
The looking for peace is a waste, but I wish it could be possible.

The interlude of Ym was so intense, I liked him a lot already and then he was killed.

My heart is still broken for Jasnah, and the passages of Navani's diary only make it worse.

Chapter 17
(view spoiler)[I love Pattern! He's such a little cute thing. But I'm worried, why did the Knights kill their spren? Are they as good as they seem to be? What is the risk of the simbiosis? Is it necessary for not alarming the Gods? Jasnah had a spren, too. What happened to it? Can the Knights see the spren of others? I'm dying for Kaladin and Shallan to meet so we can have more answers.

I love seeing the Bridge Four growing as people and as a family. Kal is also trying so hard, like always.

Only 30 days!!! It happened way too fast. The part 2 includes Sadeas but we haven't seen him yet. I want to know what he's up to.
I also love Syl so much. She is the perfect match for Kal. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 21
(view spoiler)[That fight between Kaladin and Adolin was intense! I do want Adolin stop being so condescending, but I understand his suspicions.

I have been reading fast, but my pace will slow a lot tomorrow when my cousins arrive. Hopefully, I'll still be able to keep up with you.

Chapter 26

Kal is acting so strange. I get where he is coming from, but like Syl, I expected something different from him. I wish he understood better Dalinar's position about Amaram, he cannot go on and not use their friendship for an accusation like that.

The assassination attempt is weird indeed. I do not believe Moash had anything to do with it. But Sanderson tends to surprise. Could there be another light bearer?

Hopefully, Dalinar's meeting with the Parshendi will go out better than we can imagine.
The song that said that their Gods didn't shatter the plains give me chills. I think that's important. (hide spoiler)]

That first thing in the 27!! We are getting so many hints.

Chapter 28

(view spoiler)[ It took me a while to remember all the characters and everything that happened in The way of kings. I probably still don't remember everything but I remember how much I liked the book!

I had already forgot about the assassin thing but now when you mentioned it I wonder what that was about.

It's great to see how far the crew of bridge 4 has come. I just hope the new freedom won't change them for worse. I wonder what will happen when Jasnah and Shallan will reach the shattered plains. Is it possible they will somehow sense Kaladin's power since they have powers of their own? I'm not sure Shallan and Alodin will make the best couple. Jasnah's point of view would indeed be interesting.

I remember constantly changing my mind about Sadeas while reading WOK. Now it seems he's really the bad guy. He probably believes in his own reasons but I think he also wants power. I'm just waiting to see his countermoves to Dalinar's plan.

Yes, I'm so proud of Bridge 4! I think they'll accomplish great things.

I'm also unsure about Adolin and Shallan. It's a good solution, but their personalities are so different, I'm unsure about that.

Oh no! Jasnah's death really took me by surprise! I totally agree with you...she shouldn't have died! I feel like she was the one that was supposed to convince the world of what's coming. Well, maybe Dalinar could do that, too. I wonder what will happen to Shallan now.
Oh, you're listening to an audio book! Just out of curiousity...how many hours does the whole book take? I've never listened to anything this long 😁

It is longer than the normal audiobook, because the Graphic Audio has moments of just background noise to set the mood.

Yes, the reading is way more faster in this one! Thankfully. I loved WOK, but let's be honest, it was so slow.

I have wished that, too! It is really nice, and the atmosphere gets even more spot on!

Like you said their culture's very interesting and finally we're getting to know something about the reasons behind Gavilar's assassination. And could it be that the shattered plains are actually the city of Urithiru...or maybe it's just a ruin of another city.

Really... Amaram? I have a feeling that's not good for Kaladin! I bet Amaram won't be happy to find him alive. (hide spoiler)]

I really wish to know what was Gavilar doing to make him so dangerous.

(view spoiler)[ That's a good question about Jasnah's spren! Did he die too or maybe just end up back where he came from...like to Shadesmar? Or maybe he lingers in human world as an ordinary spren? I'm also really looking forward to Shallan and Kaladin meeting each other. I'm curious about what will happen. And yes....I'd like to know why the knights killed their sprens.

Do you think Amaram will be an ally for Dalinar? I'm afraid he might also ally with Sadeas since they both seem to strive for power. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 21

I have a feeling Kaladin and Adolin could have a lot in common if only they learned to respect each other. They come from different backgrounds, which is likely to cause some distrust but they both are soldiers, in the end.

Zahel seems like an interesting character. I'd like to know his story.

I feel like Shallan is becoming more and more like Jasnah. I guess it's because she's learning to use her abilities and that gives her confidence. I think earlier she was too much a child for pulling off something like the thing with the deserters. I think she's needed to grow up a lot lately. (hide spoiler)]

Yeah, Shallan adored Jasnah since the beginning and now she's completely trying to imitate her. She's a good example, but she needs to remember to still be herself. She really was like a child in the beginning, and I couldn't start her. So it's a nice improvement. (hide spoiler)]

As for Zahel..he's the kind of character I could see sticking around for some time, so there might be a chance somebody tells his story, maybe not he but somebody who who's known him for a long time. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 28

(view spoiler)[ So many things happening! I agree with you on Kaladin's behaviour. I don't know what he actually expected to happen when he told Dalinar about Amaram. I hope he won't eventually cross too many lines in his anger or determination or whichever emotion he happens to feel. However, even Adolin seemed to respect him a little after his little riding stunt. I wonder if Dreamstorm will eventually become Kaladin's mount.

I was going to ask you what you thought about Moash and the assassination attempt but you had already addressed to that. I wouldn't like to think he'd get involved but I feel like he's the only one of Kal's men who could actually do that. Others seem to be too loyal. Only I don't know why he would...for money? Or better position?

I'm interested in seeing Dalinar meet with the Parshendi but can't believe the meeting would be fruitful. What would happen in the rest of the series then? 😁

Yes! It'll be awesome when Shallan and Kaladin actually meet. But it won't be awesome for Shallan I think. I'm not sure I like her learning about con artists. I do get she needs a plan B..maybe even a plan C in case the marriage won't happen but somehow that's really not for her. I don't know why I feel this way because that's basically what she did in the first place when trying to pose as Jasnah's ward.

I love the stanzas in the beginning of the chapters. I think sometimes they reveal more about what happened than the actual story. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 32

(view spoiler)[ I kept waiting for something to happen because everything kept pointing to it. However, I thought it would happen only after the countdown appearing on Dalinar's wall reached its end. I guess it was just a matter of time that the assassin came to the Shattered Plains. I wonder what will happen now, though. I can't believe Kaladin's hand wouldn't heal..maybe the stormlight will heal it.

I don't think Shallan should go on with the scam. I think there will be trouble if some people will know Shallan as an impostor. How is she going to prove she is who she's supposed to be if confronted. That might ruin her engagement. (hide spoiler)]

The singing. Oh god. Everything's gonna go wild, don't you think?
Kal's dream means he's gonna have more warnings in highstorms????? Who is talking to him? I suspected Kal was going to be their champion, but I don't want him to hurt more.

MAYDAY, MAYDAY. SHIT WENT DOWN. SHIT WENT DOWN. THAT FIGHT WITH SZETH OH GOD. I WAS SURE THEY WERE ALL GOING TO DIE. AAAAAAAAAAH.
But something is bugging me, why was Syl acting as if Szeth was the darkest enemy of them? I really don't think that Szeth is the god we fear.
Why did they call him truthless? Why no spren is guiding him?

Also, Tin?????? Whattttt? What are the odds? Yes, I suspected her but not for something so big. I hope Shallan will tear that group down.

ESHONAI? OKAY, at this point everything went crazy. She knew in the transformation that something was wrong, did she forget it??? She's going to harm a lot, right? Now, what will happen with the meeting? Now she's not even looking for peace. The Parshendi unifying to bring that god upon the humans is going to ruin everything.

Finally, Kaladin is going to train. If Adolin didn't suspected him more than ever, this would be the right path for him to respect him.

Also, I was so excited at seeing the prologue of WOK finally being useful. It took me a moment to identity Taln, but when he started to name all the others, I got it. I hope that we'll finally understand their stories!!!! (hide spoiler)]

Like I suspected, you're so going to leave me behind hahahah. My cousins are going to stay here for more time, I'm going to sell my soul to keep going.

I think Dreamstorm is going to let him mount, or I really hope so. Though we haven't seen more scenes of the bridgmen riding.

Yes, if someone is going to commit treason of them is Moash. But I still find it difficult to believe. Yes, he doesn't kiss the floor Kaladin walks on as the others, but he really respects him. I couldn't stand the family of Bridge 4 breaking.
I don't think that Moash could be swayed by money, it would have to be power or the believe that he's doing the right thing for his friends.

Shallan learning for Tin was a really bad idea.

I also really love the stanzas! They give us a lot of information that could be hardly learned in that way. I really like it. (hide spoiler)]

By the way, I never asked, what do you think of the emerging relationship between Navani and Dalinar?

Adolin and Shallan's meeting bothered me, it was way too cliche for my taste. But oh well.
In a way, I'm happy that Shallan is not going to house Kholin. This will give us the perfect opportunity to finally meet more highprinces and get other perspectives. While I like this highprince, I cannot ignore the fact that he's just getting rich while soldiers are dying. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 40

(view spoiler)[ I agree with you when it comes to Shallan and Adolin's meeting. How convenient that they both seemed to be attracted to each other. I much more preferred Shallan and Kaladin's meeting. It'll be interesting to see how Shallan will manage in her new position. At least we'll get to know another highprince better as you pointed out.

I wonder if Shallan will have a hard time convincing Navani in helping with the research. They didn't seem to get the best start, which of course was partly because of Jasnah's death.

I don't really have a strong opinion when it comes to Navani and Dalinar. I don't dislike Navani but she's not my favorite character either. She seems a bit selfish in her pursuit of Dalinar. She doesn't seem to care how the relationship affects Dalinar's political goals or his sense of duty and honor. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 40
(view spoiler)[Yes, it was like a movie in a cheesy scene, I hope that not all their encounters will be like that. But I'm not a big fan of any of Sanderson's romances. Maybe just in Elantris.

I think Shallan will do great, she's good enough for this. At least I hope so.

I don't think Navani and Shallan's relationship will go well. Nevertheless of Jasnah, I don't think their personalities match.

Navani is really not my taste, like you said, her selfishness bothers me so much. Dalinar had his mind set, and she discarded her former decision of Gavilar, and just convinced him to ruin his reputation alongside of him. It's not like Dalinar had any responsibility in that, but still she didn't have any regard of it. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 45
(view spoiler)[ I'm not sure Renarin joining Bridge 4 was a good idea. I have nothing against him and he actually might fit in. At least he's not cocky like Adolin. Only I think it will take a long time for the bridgemen to actually trust him.

I wonder who are the Ghostbloods really and what do they want. It was brave but also kind of stupid of Shallan to meet with them. They seemed dangerous. Could Helaran be involved somehow? Was it ever said where he ended up?

So Moash really was involved in the assassination attempt. I'm sad to hear that but at least he had an explanation. I hope this will not come between him and Kaladin. (hide spoiler)]

I forgot to mention earlier that (view spoiler)[ it took me forever to realize who Gaz was. It only just clicked when he met Kaladin in the palace. Guess I'm a bit slow when it comes to all the chatacters 😁 (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 51.

I have a bad feeling about this big assault of Dalinar's. Knowing what happened to Eshonai together with the fact that the mysterious countdown will be coming to an end, I doubt anything good will come of it!

I think Kaladin shouldn't risk everything he's achieved by conspiring with the assassins, even if it cost him Moash's loyalty. Elhokar is not a good king but I doubt Dalinar would be thankful if Kaladin got him killed.

Shallan's and Adolin's relationship seems to be developing well, it's still not really my cup of tea, though. I'm just not a big fan of their mutual attraction. Like what are the odds? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 45
(view spoiler)[I'm already feeling how Kal's meeting will go so wrong. I hope that he doesn't lose Dalinar's trust.
But, what should he do? Putting Moash away of the king's guard? That's the best solution, I think. I don't know, this all seems bad.
I really don't think it will come between Kal and Moash. While Kal takes seriously his job, his need of revenge is sometimes stronger. It's something that will allow him to understand Moash.

I actually believe that Renarin joining bridge 4 was a good idea, while it will take them a lot of time to get used to him, it will allow them to start trusting some lighteyes. And therefore, to Dalinar. And for Renarin, this is perfect. He gets a chance to finally socialize and feel that he's useful in something.

Oooooh, the Helaran thing is a good one. If I don't remember wrong, when they were communicating in WOK, Helaran never came to light. It could be possible.
I think that the meeting was a good thing to do, infiltrating Amaram's army tho, that is really stupid. She doesn't have neither the experience nor the ability right now.

I also didn't get Gaz till Kal mentioned it, I'm also a bit slow.

Hoid (or Wit in this series) visiting Shallan makes me wonder. I wish we didn't get so many filler parts of Shallan's past. While it's interesting sometimes, the "mistery" of the death of her mother is getting a little bit old. (hide spoiler)]
