This quarterly challenge features five themed tasks per month, totaling fifteen tasks total.

Duration: October 1 - December 31

Instructions:

There are five tasks per month.

Tasks can be completed in any order. For example, you can read a book in January that satisfies a March task. The months are only there to serve as task inspiration.

Only one book can be used per task. If a book fulfills two tasks, you'll have to choose!

Books can only be used if they were started and finished during the challenge's time frame.

Please post in this thread if you have any questions! I apologize in advance because I feel like these may be the most difficult tasks I've done yet.

OCTOBER
1. This is Halloween: Read a paranormal romance.
2. Is It Fall Yet?:: Read a book with a cover that is mostly red, brown, or orange. Include the cover, please.
3. National Cat Day: Read a book where a cat is involved! Shifters are okay!

Anne | 22 comments Can I just say that I love that the phrasing is character/"main character" instead of hero or heroine? It really increases the odds of hitting the criteria. :)

Sandy D. | 44 comments All done! Band Sinister was my favorite - it was just so cozy and comforting and clever.

I did enjoy Kate Clayborn's Best of Luck a lot, too. And strangely enough, all the music details in a couple of the romances were fun (violins in Geek with the Cat Tattoo; banjo in The City Baker's Guide to Country Living).

Rising Out of Hatred: The Awakening of a Former White Nationalist was fascinating, a very quick read, and not as depressing as I feared.

Koozebane | 67 comments My favorite was ASTOUNDING!...it starts out cutely snarky, becomes genuinely touching, and the world-building is cool (even the sex scenes are important to that). Also, while Eames' earlier KINGS OF THE WYLD was more my speed personally (funnier and with more amusing anachronistic rock references), BLOODY ROSE has an engaging plot and a cool LGBT heroine. (The whole Band series is very LGBT-friendly and feminist-sympathetic, great for those who tend to avoid fantasy because it skews too meathead guy at times.) If you like fairy tale reworkings, DRIVEN SNOW is entertaining (Tara Lain always does well with touches of magic, and I love that the chess star is the celebrity to be protected instead of the football player).
