Prisoner of Azbakan is a wonderfully written book and my favorite so far. The third book in the J.K. Rowling series is the one that really starts to delve into the darker side of the magical world. This story shows us the dementors and we begin to learn some of the secrets of Hogwarts, as well as it’s previous students.
The main plot in this book is that of Sirius Black, a criminal, the best friend of Harry’s father James, and the only person granted the knowledge of Potter family’s whereabouts when Voldermort (aka you-know-who) was at the height of his power. According to the rumors, Sirius betrayed James and Lily Potter to the Dark Lord and caused their death, going on to murder a fellow wizard and several other muggle citizens in some kind of a crazy, mad rage.
For all these years, Sirius has been a resident at the jail for wizards, Azkaban. This is an island, which is ruled over by terrifying magical creatures called dementors. However, Sirius manages to escape the prison, something no other wizard has been able to do, and as far as everyone in the book is concerned he’s trying to hunt down Harry, so he can finish the work his master started.
This book had many exciting and dark plot points. The mystery of the murder of Harry's parents at the hands of Lord Voldemort shocked me. I mean literally! I sat in my bed with my mouth gaped open! Not everyone or everything in the story is what it seems either. This was one of my favorite elements though and it kept me on my toes as I read this book. The climax was riveting and intense, and I could barely put the book down. I absolutely can't wait to dive in and see what other thrilling adventures await for some of my favorite characters.

The next one is over 700 pages long. I had high hopes to finish the last 3 this month but I'm now thinking one a month through the end of the year! After reading this one I am so anxious to begin the next one!

I like you was a latecomer to the Harry Potter books on June 16m 2016 and finished July 7, 2016.

I gorged on them and gobbled them down.

Idit | 1028 comments I agree with booknblues. They look long but are still a pretty quick read. They are just... so ... readable

By book three we are reaching ones that I bought on the night they came out and probably read them on the two days after (mind you - that was before real life responsibilities existed (work kids and all that Jazz)

Life totally gets in the way.:) I have a "few" books to read this month so we will see. I will definitely be reading number 4.

Booknblues | 12060 comments They are a great pleasure whenever you choose to read them.

KateNZ | 4100 comments My younger son and I used to argue over who could read the new HP book first. Arm wrestling may occasionally have been involved. (He always won, sigh - the sacrifices that parents make ... 😉)

That made me laugh. We make so many sacrifices.😉

OMG, my mom and I would buy two separate copies so we could both read them when they came out, haahhaha. I always kept my first editions, luckily she worked at a bookstore that would buy her copies back at almost original price.
