This is the biggest section. Because this is a thriller let's try to share our thoughts without spoilers. How are you liking this so far? Do you have ideas of where it's going? Has anything surprised you yet? How do you feel about the main characters?

Jill (penwiper42) | 20 comments Aaand, I ended up dropping this book last night (early morning, about 2:00 am. *sigh* I need to stop doing this.) I didn't need those images in my head. I usually prefer books to visual media because it is not as graphic to me and I can skim easily if I need to, but it was hard to skim this mess without my eye catching something I'll want to scrub out of my brain for a long time.

As it is, I had to read a few chapters of a fluffy anthropomorphic bunnies middle grade epic fantasy to even sleep and a short but sweet Harry Potter fanfiction.

I think I'm too conservative/sensitive for this book. Only thing I want to know now is who really killed those kids and why.

Charis Dossor OK- I have just started reading chap nine. Not quite sure how to talk about this book. I love the way Gillian Flynn writes, it's clean, sharp and she certainly doesn't beat around the bush, which I can appreciate. I also love writers that explore flawed and/or unlikable characters. Some of the imagery is hard to take and I am pretty seasoned with horror/crime/murder type books, so that is saying something and I understand why some readers would have a hard time with this book. Overall I am intrigued and I definitely want to keep reading.

Kelsey Righter (papermoona) argh I'm late on the commenting. I flew through so many chapters today, on audio, now on chapter 14. I've gotten kind of obsessed with this mystery and the protagonist's voice. I admit she can be pretty F*d up, a little much, but definitely interesting. She certainly has a story. I definitely think the book could do without the romantic/sexual relationship elements, I'm so into getting to the bottom of the case

Kelsey Righter (papermoona) I can see how the imagery in this book wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I love it... I'm listening on audio and especially enjoying it. Her voice is quite crude, bold, and provokes thought. I find myself getting pretty swept with it. Again I feel like the romantic turns aren't necessary, or that interesting, however I can mind it as it's part of Camille's story in returning to old stomping grounds/old parts of herself she swore off of. All in all I like being in Camille's shoes in learning more about her mother and sister as she peels back the layers

Jessica Beaver | 18 comments I just finished chapter 12, and I am listening to the audio as well. I am really, really not liking any of these characters. They all seem like such sad and broken people. There's not a normal one in the bunch...and I love it! Gillian Flynn's writing style just appeals to me. I'm pretty well hooked.

I have no idea who the killer is, but I almost don't care. I'm so caught up in this family dynamic that I had to remind myself..."Oh, yeah....there's a killer somewhere in here."

I can't wait to finish this book!

Elsa I feel bad for everyone in this book. They are so messed up! I am very motivated to finish the story and learn who the killer is.

For me, Adora is the nastiest character. She enjoys the suffering of others. While Amma shares this propensity, her youth excuses it for now.
