It's the time of year for costumes and dressing up, for making old things new.

For this mini challenge, read a book that is a makeover of another story. For example, a fairy tale retelling, or a classic recast into a new mold. The challenge will last until the end of the year.

I plan on reading Pygmalion which is a modern version of the Greek myth, Pygmalion and Galatea.

I plan to read Spinning Silver, a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin. I think it also has some Russian mythology in there.

Completed:

Heart's Blood by Juliet Marillier Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik

I thought it was all right. The movie My Fair Lady is based on it, but there are a few differences, especially the ending.

I've seen the movie - was wondering how it compared.

I kept hearing the songs in my head as I was reading the play. I loved the songs and the costumes, and Audrey Hepburn, in the movie. And Rex Harrison was perfect as Professor Higgins.

My sister played the role of Eliza in our HS production. It was a terrific musical of which to be a part.

That would have been a lot of fun!
