J. Rubino (jrubino) A few months ago, I was asked to contribute a short story to MX Publishing's next volume of new Sherlockian fiction. The volume - over 450 pages, short stories based on the "other cases" mentioned in the Canon will be out in late November. Proceeds go to support a former home of Conan Doyle, now a school for disabled children

The cases had to be based on a reference to a case, and set in the years 1894-1902. Mine - Another Case of Identity - opens at the time of Queen Victoria's death, and is taken from Holmes' reference in The Priory School to the Abergavenny trial and the Ferrers documents. Here's a link:

Barbara Since this last post, I have read some of these anthologies and reviewed a few of them - the two Christmas ones, the one where the cases first seemed to be supernatural and another one. I said on the other Holmes forum that though the downside is the cost (they're a bit pricy though the money from these books goes to charity) they are some of the best collections of new Sherlock Holmes stories out there. Plus they usually add something extra - poetry, stage plays, essays, etc.
And yeah - the covers are pretty good-looking.

Barbara I am also a big fan of MX anthologies and the book by J (OP) that came out a few months ago - Hidden Fires. I am always amazed at how some writers can really come off writing like Conan Doyle. I wish that these were in audio so I could hear them.
Hmmm.... I wonder if with this new AI stuff, they could get Jeremy Brett's voice to "read" them?

Hi Barbara - the audio of Hidden Fires is complete and awaiting Audible release. We have about 300 books in audio now and slowly releasing selected stories from the MX series too. Check out our blog as we give away audiobooks every Friday - https://mxpublishing.com/blogs/news

Barbara I just finished anthology #40 from MX and liked it a lot. Put up a review. It is amazing to read some new stories that make you believe they were written by Conan Doyle himself!
