Alright, it is the middle of the night and I'm still awake so I might as well do something slightly useful for all those of you who like to be told what they're expected to read ;-))


Our word for the first week of the wheel is BLACK.

We can get extra points for the following:
Word in Text
Word in Title/Series
Word as Genre
Word on Cover (which in this case, since the word is a colour, means a cover that is over 50% black)


In addition, we now have a Books Read thread.
Please post all your completed books in that thread with all the necessary information. Thank you!

May I remind you that while I'm already putting this here so we can plan ahead just a little, we still have a few weeks to go before the challenge actually starts, so no rush! :-)

There's no way to catch up. Not ever.

E - I'll try not to be too much of a nuisance from now until the challenge starts, but I can't promise anything. I'm too excited to be calm - but it is a long time to wait

If you need to occupy yourself, browse through the wheel options and start hoarding books for the various options - some are a little harder to find! (Cobweb genre... just saying!)

This waiting for challenge to start is always killing me. I have serious guilt going on every time I pick new book cause 'what if we need it later in the challene'

For example I wanted to go through LotR before challenge so I'm not rushing it and so I can take notes for might-be-next-challene, but all my covers are black!!!

Hahaha, don't worry about the black covers, Tea! I think that'll be the easiest and we're only getting bonus points for the cover once. I think you can safely read your LotR and take notes! :-)

Um, no, since I'm in line with all of you to be told exactly what to do. Did I mention poor E getting stuck with a co-captain that doesn't like to read rules either???

Maybe during our wait we could examine some of our potential books and make them qualified by encouraging 'others' to place them on the appropriate shelves? That's fair right? As long as we're actually shelving it appropriately? I mean, if I know of a book that has cobwebs on the cover or is maybe about a spider making cobwebs (Charlotte's Web, anyone?) and someone puts it on a shelf named cobwebs, that's legal, ya?

Theoretically that might work. Practically not necessarily.

Needs to be on the first page of shelves/tags and that often requires a fair number of tags unless it's a more obscure book.

But hey, I'm all for it ;-)

The Powers That Be have given us a little slack for the harder (read impossible) to find words where genres are concerned.

Here is a list of words that can be substituted when we're hunting for our weekly word as genre:

TOMBSTONE		GRAVEYARD
POTION			MAGIC
CANDY CORN		TREAT	
JACK-O-LANTERN		VEGETABLE
COBWEB			WEB
CAULDRON		WITCH

For all the other genres, we're going to hunt for the given word.

Plurals can be used. Hyphens cannot.
