October BOTM - Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman

Here are a few questions to get the conversation started!
Have you heard about this book before and/or read in School or College?
Did you already have an idea of what "Emotional Intelligence" meant before reading the book and has that meaning changed since finishing the book?
Since reading the book, do you feel that you are more or less "Emotionally Intelligent" than you thought? Do you know anyone who would benefit from reading this book?

Finally started to make a dint into this, how is everybody finding it?
I remember I read it years ago and was fascinated by it! Now that I am re-reading it (and I have read similar books in the genre since my first read) I must admit that although I really appreciate how technical and detailed the book is, I am also finding it a bit slow burning because of it.
Also, I can't help but compare it to the Chimp Paradox which deals with very similar issues (emotional/logical brain or "Chimp"/"Human" Brain) but has actually added an extra element (i.e. the Computer) but was written in a much simplified manner for the sake of ensuring that everybody could understand the Paradox and that it wouldn't get lost in all the technicalities. Also, the Paradox was written about 16 years after EI.
This being said, it is probably unfair to compare the two books and I am actually enjoying Emotional Intelligence very much and I am thankful that I am able to learn more about our Brain even without having to go to University or similar.

Here we are with October's BOTM pick! I remember briefly reading this in College and I am looking forward to diving back into it!
