Did you like the story, Cheryl?
Made me think about how we tend to want love to be unique and yet having fallen in love more than once find ourselves using similar expressions and gestures, or identifying with the same romantic songs. In Updike's story, Pygmalion kind of takes this to the extreme and wants his new wife to adopt the same mannerisms of his old wife recreating the very dynamics which bored him in his first marriage. Didn't feel like we were left with much more than a cycle destined to repeat itself. Kind of a lot to get across in such a short space!

That's putting it mildly!!!! Selfishness seems to be at the heart of this story.
