Hi Jim! Have you read his other series, The Long Way Down (Daniel Faust, #1) by Craig Schaefer ? From what I understand, Harmony Black is a spinoff of those. It's been recommended to me several times, but I haven't yet gotten to them.

I really enjoyed that one when I read it the first time. I'm not sure if I would choose to re-read it, though. I hope you're enjoying it!

message 28: by Nerdy Werewolf (last edited Jan 13, 2019 08:19AM) (new)

Nerdy Werewolf (nerdywerewolf) I'm currently continuing reading the Geoff Johns-Green Lantern run (prior to the New52). I'm about halfway through this volume: Green Lantern Rebirth (New Edition) by Geoff Johns

I'm also doing a first read/re-read of the Jane Yellowrock series. I'm finishing up Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock, #1) by Faith Hunter today and starting Blood Cross (Jane Yellowrock, #2) by Faith Hunter .

It was not as good the second time around. It really dragged since I knew what was happening and kept wishing it would hurry along. Definitely feel this is a one-time only book.

I haven't read the Daniel Faust series yet, but I plan to. I enjoy the Harmony Black character and the world that has been created and would like to see other facets of it.

You know, I thought that might be the case? Well, I'm sorry the experience was not as enjoyable the second time around, but at least now you know!

I've actually heard from people in a different group that they enjoyed the Faust books more than the Black ones. I'd be interested to know what your take is since you'll be reading them the other way around.

I found the Harmony books on sale and I believe I have the first Faust one around here somewhere...I just haven't gotten to them, yet.

message 36: by Nerdy Werewolf (new)

Nerdy Werewolf (nerdywerewolf) I finished up my re-read of Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock, #1) by Faith Hunter and possibly liked it better this time around? I accidentally deleted my review, so I can't really compare, but I rated it the same (★★★★☆).

I'm almost finished with Blood Cross (Jane Yellowrock, #2) by Faith Hunter , which I'm not enjoying as much as the last, but I'm still hooked and I think looking forward to reading book 3 since I never got that far last time. :)

message 37: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk | 74 comments I finished Ascension Ascension (Facets of Feyrie, #2) by Zoe Parker and while I liked it, it wasn't as good as the first one. I really like the main character but this book meandered quite a bit and I needed things to happen - 3.5 stars

I'll be starting the next one, Deception Deception (Facets of Feyrie, #3) by Zoe Parker .

I had a friend that raved about that series. I'm interested to see if the third book makes reading the second one worth it. :)

message 39: by Ash (new)

Ash Reading Six of crows! Till now for me it didn't live up to its hype tbh! Hope that it gets better also reading Dirty red by Tarryn fisher...interesting book! Kind of written in a villain point of view!

message 40: by Elayne (new)

Elayne (elaynet) | 87 comments Her Final Breath by Robert Dugoni. The author weaves a tale to keep you enthralled. He is a talented writer who draws you in to the deep emotions of the main character. This is one of my favorite genres, a thriller with all the intensity of a serial killer and the skillful detectives who work out what makes them tick and how to stop them.

@Ayten, do you know how to add book links? It just makes it easier for us to see (and possibly want to read) what you're reading. :)

That sounds very intense. What other books would you compare those to?

message 43: by Nerdy Werewolf (new)

Nerdy Werewolf (nerdywerewolf) I finished up Blood Cross (Jane Yellowrock, #2) by Faith Hunter , which was just okay. Not bad, not great. Okay. I've been told repeatedly that I'll love it if only I can stick with it.

So....now I'm reading Mercy Blade (Jane Yellowrock, #3) by Faith Hunter . We'll see.

Jim | 152 comments Finished Hard Magic (Paranormal Scene Investigations #1) by Laura Anne Gilman Hard Magic - 4 star, I enjoyed the characters and world created. The story was paced well and did not get bogged down in details.

Now reading The Midnight Line (Jack Reacher, #22) by Lee Child The Midnight Line

message 47: by LilMisGrayBrisk (new)

LilMisGrayBrisk | 74 comments Mitabird wrote: "I'll be starting the next one, DeceptionDeception (Facets of Feyrie, #3) by Zoe Parker...."

I finished Deception and it was better than Ascension. I struggled with it about the first half of the book but it got a lot better and I'm looking forward to the next one - 4 stars

I also listened to Charlotte's Web Charlotte's Web by E.B. White . I had never read this before and it really hit me emotionally. It was unexpected and I can see why it's a classic - 5 stars

I'm taking a break from fantasy and plan on reading The Face of Deception The Face Of Deception (Eve Duncan, #1) by Iris Johansen .

message 48: by Jim (new)

Jim | 152 comments Finished The Midnight Line (Jack Reacher, #22) by Lee Child The Midnight Line - 4 star, not all the Reacher stories are this good, but this one follows the formula that I enjoy with an underlying mystery and plausible action

Also read Game Master by D.H. Sidebottom Game Master - 4 star, an interesting premise, an underlying mystery, and imperfect characters

Now reading Picking Up the Pieces (Enthralled, #2) by Prax Venter Picking Up the Pieces

No worries! That's why we are here. What you did absolutely links to the book in question. Try this out next time you post:

While you are in the comment box, there should be a link you can click on titled "add book/author" directly above the typing space. Now, click on that, and it will bring up a second box that allows you to search for whichever book you're looking for.

Before you click "add" you can choose either "link" or "cover" at the very bottom to decide how it will display in your comment.

Please let me know if this helps!

message 50: by Nerdy Werewolf (new)

Nerdy Werewolf (nerdywerewolf) I'm still reading Mercy Blade (Jane Yellowrock, #3) by Faith Hunter . I'm taking my time on this one and definitely enjoying it more than the previous installment.
