What are your thoughts on this section of Crossroads of Twilight?

Started chapter 15 but I have no idea who any of the characters are

I also started the chapter not knowing anyone, but from reading the Tar Valon Library website, Elenia was a Noble in Andor and proclaimed for the Lion Throne after Rand came in. Another character, Dyelin, who supports Elayne an is a VERY powerful noble, imprisoned Elenia for treason to clear the way for Elayne. Elenia then escaped and is secretly trying for the Lion Throne again which Naean (the other woman captured with her) and Arymilla (who helped the two woman escape) so she must be careful with her moves against them while working towards the Lion Throne.

Daved Hanlon is a darkfriend, also known as Doilin Mellar (Captain of Elayne's personal guard). Shiaine is who he meets at the inn, she is also a darkfriend and seems to be giving him orders and he "promised" him Elayne as a wife?

I had a hard time following the quest for the lion throne section.

The series does pickup after this book.
