Happy November, everyone! We'll use this space to discuss our favorite moments, words, and characters from this month's book: The Language of Spells. Happy reading!

Kennedy Lee | 40 comments Halloween is over! Who else has Christmas music playing?

Haha! I haven't started playing Christmas music yet, but I did watch a Christmas movie on tv a couple of nights ago! I love this time of year!

Kennedy Lee | 40 comments That's funny. I love this time of year too!

Kennedy Lee | 40 comments Who wants to hear a funny story about Christmas?

I don't let myself listen to holiday music until after Thanksgiving, so I'd love to hear a funny story to hold me over until then. :)

Kennedy Lee | 40 comments Okay. So this one time my brother asked Santa for stinky socks for Christmas. On Christmas morning, he opens a present and guess what's inside? Socks. They smelled really bad and there was a note attached: I looked all around the world for the stinkiest socks I could find, and they were your dads.

Kennedy Lee | 40 comments SPOILER ALERT!!!!!! (KIND OF)

I loved this book. At the end I was really emotional and had tears in my eyes. It's so sad!

Michele Benson | 6 comments I really liked how the dragons were imagined in this book, Grisha and Maggie had such a caring and sweet relationship that I hated to see it end. I thought the book had a lot to say about random prejudice. Separating dragons by eye color seemed as irrational as separating humans by skin color. The fact that most people were too busy to see magic in their lives was a great underlying theme.

Kennedy, this is hilarious! I didn't realize Santa had such a good sense of humor. :)

I'm so glad you loved the book, Kennedy! I thought the writing was beautiful, and I loved the relationship between Grisha and Maggie. Did you have a favorite part?

Not really! But I love how it was written.

Happy December, Kennedy! I'm also grateful for my family and for books. I'll also add that I'm thankful for my dog and for ice cream!

Kennedy Lee | 40 comments Ice cream! Ha ha! Me too!
