MountainKat | 31593 comments Let's reflect on the best and worst of the previous month's books.....

I know I can get so focused on what is next that I forget about all the wonderful books I read for the previous month's challenges! November... How did that happen?! I'm not ready - can we just go on strike and put it off for a while? I'm ready for the cooler days and would love some rainy weather, but with the holidays right around the corner, I'm feeling a little harried already. I love it but not always the process of getting there. Thank goodness for holiday romance and other books for their distraction! What about you? Are you ready for the season or dragging your feet a bit like me? What do you have planned to read as we head into the jolly season? Share the goodies so we can all enjoy!

Did you discover some gems last month? DNF a few? Find your new book boyfriend or a heroine who personifies TSTL? Come on, we all want to know! What did you enjoy with your Pumpkin Spice Latte?

MountainKat | 31593 comments I had one 5 Star book from October - Devoted in Death. It just worked from start to finish for me! I love all the books in this series, but most are 4 Stars. The few that are 5 are usually the ones that are more personal to Eve and Roarke, where they deal with their stuff even more than the case involved. This wasn't one of those books, but it was still 5 Stars for me!

I had several that were 4+ Stars too! Unzipped and The Trouble with Twelfth Grave towards the end of the month were both wonderful - in very different ways! Unzipped was light and funny and just made me happy. The Trouble with Twelfth Grave was just a wild ride that ended with a big loop and I can't wait to see what happens next! On the Way to the Wedding and Magic Bleeds were also stand outs in October.

The only disappointment was Come Away with Me. It didn't work for me in many ways, feel free to check out my review if you are curious about those many ways...

All in all, October was a great month with lots of great books for me!

Fran | 12277 comments My favorites of October were Save the Date and Mistletoe at Midnight. Both are sweet, fun reads.

My least favorite was Just What the Doctor Ordered. I just couldn't connect to the main characters. I'm happy they were happy together, lol, but neither of them were really my cup of tea.

CB (cb33) | 1312 comments I had one 5-star read for October, which was Something So Irresistible (Something So, #3) by Natasha Madison by Natasha Madison. A hate-to-love sports romance that had excellent characters in it and was just a truly great read. Other two top reads for me that I rated 4.5 stars were This Life I by Cara Dee by Cara Dee and Psychic's Spell (Legion of Angels #6) by Ella Summers by Ella Summers. Looking forward to reading more by all these authors.

I did have one DNF in the month, which was 3013 Primal (3013, #13) by Laurie Roma by Laurie Roma. Just a snoozer of a book that I personally found boring, and I didn't like or connect with the characters at all.

MountainKat | 31593 comments Some good looking books! And some to avoid...

Getting an early start on holiday reading Fran? 😊

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I was walking for most of October ;) And I just milled around picking whatever book appealed at the time ~ no structure whatsoever which is really weird! But, I did reread a series to get up to date for the latest book:

Spencer Cohen, Book One (Spencer Cohen, #1) by N.R. Walker Spencer Cohen, Book Two (Spencer Cohen, #2) by N.R. Walker Spencer Cohen, Book Three (Spencer Cohen, #3) by N.R. Walker to then read Yanni's Story (Spencer Cohen, #4) by N.R. Walker

Loved them and its the first time I think I've read a series back to back. I normally leave months (or years) between books!

Wealie | 542 comments Finally started Nancy Gideon’s By moonlight series with the fab Masked by Moonlight and I’ve bought the rest of the series on spec based on how good this first book was.

I also enjoyed catching up on some series I enjoy on audible listening to Veiled in Moonlight by C.J. Archer and Fire in His Fury by Ruby Dixon.

I found Joe Hart’s The Last Girl to be well written, but unrelentingly depressing and oppressive. Not sure I want to continue on with that series.
