Hi Everyone!

Been really scattered the last couple weeks, sorry I keep posting late.

Being November doesn't help, boooo. At least the kittens continue to be cute.

This week I finished:

Winds of Fury - re-read to finish up the trilogy

Akata Witch - this was really good, a magic story set in the modern world, in Nigeria. The ending was a little rushed, but otherwise I really enjoyed.

Now i'm just going through comics, catching up on Ms Marvel, Infinity wars, Moon Girl, etc.

Next actual book I'll read is Zoo City. Looking forward to it, just want to catch up on a few more :)

QOTW:

Sorry I'm running out of questions about reading. So how about what kind of pets you all have?

I have four cats. I have a grey tabby, Moxie, who's about 6, a black cat, Echo, who's about 5, and a couple of kittens, Mr Teddy Pickles and Pixel, I just adopted at the start of October, who are about 6 months old. They're all pretty cute! https://www.instagram.com/p/BpijDm3nVZA/

Daniele Powell (danielepowell) | 183 comments Zero finishes for me this week, mainly because I am bearing down on reading Le Rouge et le Noir as my ATY "book that intimidates/scares you" and Book Riot "assigned book you hated or never finished". I'm at just over 300 pages in. It's not as horrible as I remembered, but it's still not my cup of tea.

I've also started Karen Memory on audiobook for my K book of alphabet soup, which will be the last challenge I complete this year. I've got the last letter, X, waiting in the wings with X.

QOTW: Over the years, I feel like I've had a zoo, with everything from dogs and cats to fish, rats, guinea pigs, a snake, and a couple of chameleons. I am currently owned by an aging black pug, Dean, and a smoky gray, Chartreux-looking, green-eyed, jowly rescue tomcat who goes by the name of Wyatt. I also do volunteer transport for rescues, so my car and I are usually covered in pet hair.

After finishing two books last week, I have started two more.

I started Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians on audiobook when walking alone. So far I am enjoying it. I am about 1-2 hours into the book.

I started reading a fiction book now! I am reading Our House and I'm really enjoying it. It started pulling me in on the first page and is very interesting. I think it was recommended in some magazine I was reading and I put it on my want-to-read list and it became available at the library. I am happy it did. It only came out a couple months ago.

QOTW: We don't have any pets. When our kids were younger we had an anole lizard for a while and also hermit crabs. But I suffer from "OPD" in that I love Other People's Dogs, but have no desire to have one of my own. Good thing I usually get my fill of petting the neighbor's dog who is so excited to see me every time they're out for a walk.

Sara | 55 comments Hi All,

It's been quite a few weeks since I've checked in and, sadly, not much to report. Between vacation, moving, and life I haven't been reading as much.

I finished Fatal Voyage. It's one of the Bones books and I thought it would be an easy read while on vacation. Should have read the description before bringing it because reading about a plane crash while you're on a plane is somewhat disconcerting.... woops. Finally finished it a few weeks after I got home.

Currently I'm reading Get Well Soon: History's Worst Plagues and the Heroes Who Fought Them based on Susan's recommendation. I'm a few chapters in and really enjoying it. I like the author's writing style.

In the last month or so I've listened to a bunch of books including Gideon's Sword, Gideon's Sword, Beyond the Ice Limit, The Wishing Spell, and Love in a Nutshell.

QOTW: We have 2 cats and 1 dog. That's enough! :-)

Susie (suessy88) | 20 comments finished Vengeful this week. Started The Ravenmaster, because the ravens at the Tower of London fascinate me.
QOTW: At the moment (and hopefully for many years longer) we have a loveable cat named Aba.

Hey Sara! I am glad you are enjoying Get Well Soon! If you're interested in a 1-2 punch, a somewhat related book I just finished is The Royal Art of Poison: Filthy Palaces, Fatal Cosmetics, Deadly Medicine, and Murder Most Foul. After reading that it is amazing that anyone survived the Middle Ages in Europe.
