Here are a few questions (From the ebook) to get the chat started!
The book alternates between the lives of Elisa in Cuba in 1958/1959 and Marisol in 2017. Which woman did you identify more with? Did you identify any parallels and differences between their lives? Do you have a similar relationship with somebody in your family?
When Marisol arrives in Cuba she struggles with identifying as Cuban because she grew up in the USA and had never set foot in Cuban soil. How much does a physical place define one's identity? Are there stories and traditions handed down through the generations in your family?
