► Kindly nominate a book that would be good for a longer Yearly group read in 2019.

It's a good chance to suggest that longer book you've always wanted to read, but haven't gotten around to.

It doesn't have to be a super-long book, although ~400 or more pages is what we are suggesting. Classics, contemporary, fiction or non-fiction... it's up to you.

Our previous 2 Yearly books (both over 1,000 pages!) have been:

  2017:   Gone With The Wind
2018:   The Count of Monte Cristo

(to see previous suggestions -- which can be nominated again if desired -- visit this thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...)

Those both look interesting Pien! I’d definitely give either one a shot!

I’ll add:
A Game of Thrones
1Q84 and
The Goldfinch

That looks interesting, too, StarMan!
I can’t wait to see what our next yearly read will be! I really enjoyed Gone with the Wind and I’m bummed I couldn’t get through The Count of Monte Cristo.

I keep trying to read this book but it keeps getting slid down the pile. Would really like to read it. :-)

Candace (candywilliams) | 491 comments There are so many great books on this list! I don’t actually have a point here. Uh, just, you know, sayin...

message 11: by Juli (new)

Juli | 5 comments 11/22/63 is great - I listened to it as an audiobook, which seems to work best for me with really long books ... assuming, of course, that that narration is top notch. (Two examples for me: Anna Karenina and Middlemarch - narrated by David Horovitz and Juliet Stevenson, respectively).

Should we get a poll for this up soon?

message 14: by Pien (new)

Pien | 601 comments I think it would be nice to start voting for this book of the year, and perhaps also book of the month January? Or is it too early for that yet?

I don’t think it’s too early. Things will get hectic around Xmas and NY’s.
