Sara Below you will find the answers to some frequently asked question for this group.

Please be aware that many of these actions must be done in a browser, not the app. You can still access it on your phone, just use the web browser feature and visit the goodreads website.

1. How do I keep up with all the happenings in this group?
This is a large and active group. The best way to find out when there are group reads, polls and other events is to check out the "Weekly Check-In" posts. A new thread is opened every Thursday morning (EST) by a moderator. If we have important administrative information to share it will be in the very first message in bold print (usually prefaced with "Admin note" or "Admin stuff". The folder of 2020 weekly check-in threads is here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

2. How to change or stop email and website notifications
-Emails: In a web browser, click on your profile pic (top right). Click on “Account settings”. Select “emails” from the options at the top. There are two places you can adjust your email settings. Under the headers "Event Notifications" and then "When someone on Goodreads" you can uncheck the box for "sends me a message". This will stop you from getting an email notification of a message on Goodreads (the message will still be in your Goodreads inbox). You can also adjust email notifications for discussions by scrolling to the bottom to “Group Email Preferences”. There you will find options to change your email notifications for all groups you are a member of. **Moderators do not maintain a list of emails. A broadcast message goes to all group members per these settings.**
-Notifications: In a web browser, under the comment box is a small check box that says “Notify me when people comment in this group” with an edit button to the side. Click “edit” and you will be given the opportunity to adjust how you are notified or to turn off notifications entirely.

3. How do monthly reads work?
- Every year the group select 12 of the prompts from the challenge to use as optional monthly group reads. On a quarterly basis, nominations are taken for a group read book for each prompt. The top six (or so) books will be added to a poll for voting. Participation in these monthly reads is completely voluntary.

4. How to bookmark your reading list post to find it easily in the future
-Using a browser, in the “post your YYYY reading lists” thread, click on the date/time link on the right side of your post’s header. Bookmark that page for easy access the rest of the year.

5. Can I use the same book for multiple prompts or for multiple reading challenges
- Yes you can if you choose to. This is a personal challenge and there are no “rules” per se. Most people in our group use one prompt for each book, but if you don’t read that many books in a year, or if you just like the idea of matching up as many prompts to a book as you can you are certainly allowed to do so.

6. How to post book title links
- In a web browser, go to the thread you wish to comment on. Have your cursor in the place you wish to add the link. Above the comment box, on the right, you will see a link that says “add book/author”. Click the link and search for the book or author you wish to link. Once you find it, click “Add” and a link will be added to your comment.

7. Do I have to complete the prompts in order?
-No, you do not. Again, this is a personal challenge and members complete it in many different ways. Some people do go through in order, but most of us read out of order.

8. What do I do if I’m having a problem with the Goodreads website or app?
-Goodreads help section: https://www.goodreads.com/help
-Goodreads Feedback group: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

9. How to I leave the group?
-In a browser, visit the group home page: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
-Just under the introduction paragraph, click on “Edit Membership”.
-Once the new page has loaded you will see the option to leave the group.
