How does the ageing of the four parents—Beverly, Fix, Teresa, and Bert—affect their feelings and behavior regarding each other and the children?

The parents mellow as they age and the children move toward forgiving them. Fix and Teresa are victims of the narcissism of Bert and Beverly. At the end of their lives, in mutual sickness and old-age, they find a form of relationship when Fix wants to make sure Teresa is taken care of when she is sick. Fix even shows some respect for Beverly as witnessed by his dislike of the way she was portrayed in the movie.

In the end, Bert is alone and Beverly is married to a wealthy man with dementia. That's a little heavy-handed perhaps.
