Fix believes, "There’s no protecting anyone…keeping people safe…is a story." To what extent is this true? Why does he believe this? Question provided by publisher.

There is nothing Fix could do to entirely protect Carolyn and Fanny and himself from the consequences of Bert and Beverly breaking up their family. Certainly, as a policeman, he knows there is only so much you can do to protect people from harm. It is not a good or a bad thing, it just in the case that when people take chances, other people may be hurt.
