Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Hello, friends! I'm so glad we're teamed up. :)

For those who may not know, I'm Andrea from Texas. I'm doing NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) during November, and the holiday season is always really busy for me, as I love baking and my tutoring job is crazy with the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks and cramming in what assistance I may give the kids in between and around those holidays.

Do y'all have a plan on how you want to approach this challenge?

I am hoping to get a book done for each category, but I'm not sure I'll make it in the time frame. If I do, I might not read fat books for every category, but I do have some fat ones scheduled, so we'll see how many of those get fit in.

My first book will be The Girl From the Train by Irma Joubert . I'm currently on page 64 (out of 379), so I'll get the full three points for it. (I won't have time to get back to it until Monday, once the game starts.) It will work for #2 published in November (Nov. 3, 2015; English version).

Which book will you read first? for which category?

I'm so excited! Happy reading, come Monday!

Kellyn Roth (kellynrothauthor) | 195 comments Hi, I'm Kellyn from Oregon, but y'all can (should :P) call me Kell! November is going to be wild for me with NaNo, and I have no idea how December will go, but we'll see, I suppose!

I'm planning on reading A Royal Masquerade by Allison Tebo - released in November - for my first book!

message 4: by Kellyn (new)

Kellyn Roth (kellynrothauthor) | 195 comments As for how to do this challenge, I'm also going to try to make a book for every category, but if I don't, I don't. :)

No pressure. The key is to have fun. :)

Good luck to you both with NaNo.

Absolutely! I'd love to read a bit more than I have recently, but getting my love of reading back would be a nice bonus! :P Thankfully, I have a few sure-to-be-zingers ready!

Thank you! :D

R.A. Hey, we're peppermint bark! XD

message 8: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Hi! Glad to have so many friends on the team with me! :)

For this round, I’m going to be reading some shorter books, most likely.

message 9: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Thanks, Melanie!

Kell, we're both reading our pubbed-in-November books first! How awesome.

R.A., please remind me of your name again?

Hannah, that's the cool thing about the non-competitive team. The length of book doesn't matter as much.

The next Kindle book I'm reading is over 700 pages. It's a collection of novellas (novels?), and I'm hoping it'll be good.
A Bride's Agreement Five Romances Develop Out of Convenient Marriages by Elaine Bonner

R.A. Andrea wrote: "Yes! Thank you. I was drawing a blank. Lots of stuff going on over here."

No problem!!

Quick question, are we supposed to do all three reading sections (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years), or can we choose which one we want to do? :)

message 13: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments They are broken down by dates.

The Thanksgiving tasks come up first, from Nov. 19 through Dec. 9.

Christmas section is up next, from Dec. 10 through Dec. 30.

Finally, New Year's from Dec. 31 through Jan. 20.

So, right now, the only ones we may work on are the ones for Thanksgiving, which Melanie has posted in our review thread. Each of us may read up to ten books, one per category per person.

Does that make sense?

message 14: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments "Right now" meaning "starting on Nov. 19."

message 15: by R.A. (new)

R.A. Yep that makes sense!! Thanks! ;) I guess I need to add to books to some categories! XD

Liz F. (liz429) Yay! So excited to be on Team Peppermint Bark!
I'm Liz from California! :D The first book I'll be reading... um... I think this one counts for leaves on the cover... (@Melanie?) They're a little detail...
Betsy and Tacy Go Downtown (Betsy-Tacy, #4)
This is gonna be so fun!!

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments MOVING the tracker to the most recent page of this thread, for everyone's convenience.

If y'all don't mind, I'll keep a tracker post for us for each group of tasks. This will be the one for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving - Nov. 19 - Dec. 9, 2018

Yeah, that's really cool! :D

message 29: by R.A. (new)

R.A. Andrea, I'm going to read Sweet Sanctuary (Sweet Sanctuary #1) by Kim Vogel Sawyer for the leaves on the cover.

message 30: by R.A. (new)

R.A. Also, I'm going to read Kate's Innocence (Kate's Case Files #1) by Sarah Holman for a book published in November. :)

Allison O'Brian on Her Own Volume 1 (The Allison Chronicles #1-2) by Melody Carlson for a book that starts with one of these letters: T,H,A,N,K,S,G,I,V

message 31: by R.A. (new)

R.A. Rustlers (Triple Creek Ranch #3) by Rebekah A. Morris for a book that is either part of a family series or has the word FAMILY in the title.

Edge of Peril (Fog Lake Mysteries #1) by Christy Barritt for FREEBIE

message 32: by R.A. (new)

R.A. Do we have to read the books in order from 1.-10.?

That’s a good book, Rosalyn!

message 34: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Welcome, Liz...I’ll be glad to get to know you a bit better doing this game. :)

message 35: by Hannah (last edited Nov 18, 2018 07:53AM) (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Andrea, I’m going to tentatively try for At Home in Mitford (Mitford Years, #1) by Jan Karon for leaves on the cover. It’s 540 pages, so it would be 6 points.

For decorations on the cover, I’ll read Holiday Amnesia by Lynette Eason (Christmas lights). 224 pages= 3 points

I’m busy enough I’m just going for ten points this round, so I’ll probably round it out with a novella for another category.

Oh good!! (not really surprising since it's Kim Vogel Sawyer! :p) :) I don't like the cover very much though.. ;)

message 37: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments I don’t either...the new edition is prettier!
Sweet Sanctuary by Kim Vogel Sawyer

:O Oh my! I love it! I probably need to get a copy of the new edition then. :P But I'm glad the older edition works for this challenge. :)

message 39: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Rosalyn, no, we don't have to read them in order.

message 40: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I actually love the original cover best on Sweet Sanctuary. I think it's sweet, and I love the colors.

I'm working on getting those books added, girls, thanks!

L.A., do you know which book(s) you want to start off with?

message 41: by R.A. (new)

R.A. Yeah the colours are really nice! I just don't prefer the couple on the front. :)

message 42: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Rosalyn, if you want to back up and reread starting at page 50 on Sweet Sanctuary tomorrow, you can get 4 points for the book, rather than 3 (since that will mean you're reading 300 of the pages rather than only 273). Up to you. Just let me know.

That's exactly how I feel too, Hannah!! :p I've been doing all my writing at night, so sometimes, I can get some reading done in the afternoon.

message 49: by R.A. (new)

R.A. I don't know what happened to L.A.'s comment ... maybe it accidentally deleted somehow.

message 50: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments L.A., your comment has disappeared (or at least I can't see it).

I'm wondering if I should try writing at night again. Now that I've finished editing the thirty chapters I've already written, I'm struggling to get into the rhythm of writing new words.
