What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I'm sorry if the header was vague but it's been years since I read this book. All I remember is she's with a group of military type men. She was injured badly they stoped to help her warned her the treatment would hurt she allowed them to treat her it was a powder or solution she didn't make a sound after she was done the men in the group took turns cutting their hands and putting the solution in their cuts to see how painful it was and found it extremely painful didn't know how such a girl could stand the pain without crying out and grew to respect her.

That's all I can remember but it's bugging me to reread it been searching my archives for it but haven't found it yet.

Something similar happened in Ransom by Julie Garwood. See chapter 7.

I will give it a read and see as I said it was quite a long time ago I read it and I actually started with historical highland romances so it may be the one I'm looking for I will post if it is

I also immediately thought of Ransom by Julie Garwood. Since you remember that one scene here's some details about that scene.

SPOILERS In this scene Brodrick and his highland warriors are taking her to Annie Drummond's house as is known for her healing abilities. They are taking Gillian and the little boy she saved back to his family (and to find her sister and a box). Gillian had previously been cut by Alec while on a ledge. Annie is going to pour mother's fire on the open wound. They are going to drug Gillian but she switches the drinks and Annie's husband Kevin is drugged instead. Annie says that even though the brew isn't overly hot it is very painful and Gillian may cry out. Brodrick commands that Gillian will not make a sound. She doesn't but after leaves the house for the woods were she cries. One of the other warriors is known as a doubter and tests the mother's fire on a small cut.
